A Missed Opportunity

October 5th, 2007

Sunlight streamed through the windows, brightly illuminating the living room. Various members of a family were seated on the futon couch, sinking into the plush blue seat, and swaying on the rocking chair. Two boys, two girls, and two parents –

Their name was the “Willi”.

The Bibles were opened, and family devotions were just ending. Suddenly, steps could be heard walking up the front porch, and they ended with a doorbell ring. The mother glanced at her watch. She was conscious of all the places she and her family had to be, and the million and one things that they had to do.

She opend the door. The lady outside smiled. “Hello, I’m with the Jehovah’s Witnesses. I’d like to share with you some scriptures of comfort. Are you religious?”

The mother quickly replied. “Yes, we’re religious, but we’re not interested. thanks.”

She closed the door, and sat back down on her rocking chair. For a moment, there was silence in the room. Each member of the family looked at each other, at the ticking clock on the shelf, at the open Bible on their lap. Soon, as one man, they turned to the window – but it was too late.

The lady was gone.

And those “million and one” things didn’t seem so important anymore.

May we always take advantage of the opportunities God gives us to share Him with others, and not let the busyness of life choke our voice.

For the Glory of God
Walter

I just have to say this was probably one of the most effective blurbs I’ve had the chance to view on the topic so far. I do not know where you learn all your data but I am impressed! I’m going to send a few folks to this site to read this. Amazing, totally fantastic. I am have just started getting into crafting articles myself, nothing compared to your writing skills (ha!) but I would love for you to take my stuff someday! here
