Weekend, Mold, Laptop, oh My!

October 23rd, 2007

Hello everyone! What a weekend it has been for us! A farewell concert, a “roasting”, family and friends – it’s been great. (And is still going on!)

We’ll have pics up on the blog in a few days, for your visual enjoyment! :)

(I know, I hate multi-topic posts, but here goes…)

We would appreciate your prayer, as this is the day that the mold remediation will be done. The buyer is also coming to watch I believe. We’re just praying that the mold would go away smoothly, with no bumps or glitches to get in the way of the closing!

For those of you who are more technically inclined, I’m looking to buy a laptop before we move. (YESS!) The trick, though, is picking one out that is good quality, without burning a hole in my bank account. This one is my favorite so far – click it for more details:

Cool laptop

It’s a Toshiba Satellite a215-s7428, with 160gig hard drive, 2gig RAM, 15.4 screen, and of course, the bloated Windows Vista Home Premium. It’s not a super-dooper laptop by any means, but I think it has its fair share of computing power, and will be sufficient for me for a few years.

Any of you have any experience with laptops (or any computers for that matter)? What about extended warranties – are they worth it?

I don’t know that much about computers either.. (so WHY ON EARTH am I replying to this post – you are wondering…) Because I do have an inkling of experience with Toshiba laptops! My sister and brother have all had Toshiba laptops for several years and they have held up pretty well. They are highly rated in Consumer Reports for I believe it was low repairs or something (ConsumerReports.com would have more info) We bought the extended 3-year warranty and all of us would say it’s DEFINATELY worth it. We have had to take them in once and a while and the repair was always covered under the warranty. Also, the company is very good about fixing minor problems if you have a Toshiba repair center where you live.
That’s just my experience :-) The laptops we bought are Satellite Toshiba’s also but they were bought about three years ago – things might have changed since then!!!

    TTYL!

    Thanks guys! (Elizabeth too).

Unless Office Depot can sell me on some super-dooper cheap warranty, I’ll probably end up going without it. My older brother Jason and I can take care of any software/OS issues, and driver stuff. It’s just that I’m worried about accidental stuff, like spilling water on the keyboard, or dropping it, or something like that……

[...] unplugged today, and we’ll be officially “offline”. Luckily, I just bought my laptop a week ago, and we’ll be able to get email. We’ll also probably be able to write posts [...]

    NICE LAPTOP!

Throw in your 2 cents. Or 10. Actually, we'll take as much as you give us.
