A New “Home”

November 21st, 2007

It was late Saturday night when the Willi entered Virginia; and a few minutes later they were safe and sound at their future residence. One mini van burdened with canoes and bikes, one large moving truck hauling a trailer…a nine hour road trip = one, very tired family. :-)

“Welcome Home!” Karlyn greeted us at the front door.

I smiled; Jeepers! I had forgotten that Jason’s house would be our home for a few months! :-)

Since Saturday we’ve successfully unloaded our things into their proper places, and for the most part have settled in with my brother’s family. The kids wrote us welcome signs and posted them all over the house; isn’t that sweet? (for those of you who don’t know, my brother Jason has seven children; don’t worry, I’ll post about them:-) We’ve been given two bedrooms and a bathroom all to ourselves, kitchen and cabinet space, and storage in the garage and basement. Have you ever heard of such hospitality?

Funny, it seems to me as if we’re still on vacation – a very long vacation – and really haven’t moved at all. Even though I know in my head that we have indeed moved, it doesn’t exactly feel like it yet. A strange sensation at that…. Hopefully as the weeks go by and we go back to school, reality will ‘hit me’ (so-to-speak) and I’ll be able to adjust.

In the meantime, we’re having a ball with our family! The weather’s been great (yesterday was incredibly warm), we’ve been spending time outside or carrying on our tradition of card games, watching movies together, and getting ready for Thanksgiving.

Here are some pictures from our last few days.

Well folks, that’s it for now. It’s time for me to make some apple pie for tomorrow!

Yes indeed, your location looks to be quite heavenly, and the local denizens look to be quite of the heavenly variety themselves. Such fair faces all. Beautiful. Well, birds of a feather must flock, no doubt?

You forget Esther that one doesn’t get much snow down here. Karlyn said that once in Roanoke it snowed maybe three inches, and all the shops and stores were closed down for the day. Can you believe it?!
Hehe Josh, it was I, your Mortal Enenemie at your service, who was the photographer for the day. :-) “He thinks I’m getting better!” (remember in Rigoletto…)
Heavenly? Well, perhaps it is Mr. D; the property and house are great, and the weather certainly has been wonderful. I’ve been so overjoyed to be able to wear flipflops once again! HUZZAH!
Hey Justice! I’ll be sure to email you soon. And yes, you guys are famous now – you’re on the blog! Aww, sweet Spitty. Next lesson give Buddy1 a kiss for me okay?
Hey Joy! You know, it’s kind of interesting because we have two Joys commenting on our blog now, and it’ll take some knowledge of both characters to tell who is who! I know who you are…:-)
    Love you guys as always,
    Flipflop lover KC
