“There once was a knight named Sir Bill…..”
Filed under: Odds and Ends, blog, humor on December 13th, 2007

there once was a knight named sir bill
they said he was over the hill
so he took off his armor
and became a farmer
and now he grows pickles and dill
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Whose voice was unusually shrill
Whenever he spoke,
the windows–they broke
And glass figurines he did kill.
He once went to town, and found a gown
For which he recieved many a frown
And on that night,by way of haste
He was found,carrying a neckbrace
Not that i am interested in winning but just for fun…
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
he set out for a reindeer to kill
Santa found him,
and broke his lim.
Tongue to The North pole what a thrill
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Who charged at a cottage windmill
Because he charged hard
He was thoroughly jarred
And set about writing his will.
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Who served his fair king with great will
He sleuthed out some clews
Making king’s enemy lose
So Bill’s purse did the king gladly fill
Permit me an adjustment:
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Who served his fair king with great will
He sleuthed out some clews
And uncovered a rouse
So Bill’s purse did the king gladly fill
There once was a knight named Sir Bill,
His pet was a fish named gill,
They road off together,
Were found later in fetters
And that was the end of Sir Bill
Permit me to write another one! Thanks!
There once was a knight named Sir Bill,
His purse he needed to fill,
He went on a quest,
Got a wound to the chest,
And hurridly wrote his will.
There once was a knight named Sir Bill….
(get ready to groan!)
documenting history was his thrill.
He had quite a knack,
which pleased his buddy Jack.
Read all about it in Elias’s will!
Edit:
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Who charged at a distant windmill
Because he charged hard
He was thoroughly jarred
And set about writing his will.
Woah, they’re just getting better and better! This is hilarious! Keep those limericks coming – I wish I could do one too!
If I publish more my most excellent limerick will be history…
of course, I could always post it again *smile*.
I tried for one where his name could be Sir Bill Will, I (get it?)…but I wasn’t crafty enough.
Blessings!
I do not want to win, but here goes…
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Of talent in him there was totally nil
He sat down and cried,
And to himself he sighed,
“I’m afraid there’s no hope for me still.”
Please permit me to change mine
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Who quested long for a pill
The journey was perilous
The knight quite careless
And it, the pill, was worth nill
What a fun idea!!
Here’s mine:
There once was a knight named Sir Bill,
Who read much from Boudinot’s quill.
While he studied the past
He had to Stand Fast.
Or his dear friend Jack B., some would kill.
There once was a kinght named Sir Bill.
He played harp with unusual skill.
Then one happy day
his harp he did play
to the princess who lived on the hill.
Here’s another:
There once was a kinght named Sir Bill
who went into a forest still
there he did assay
to paint a monet
but found he lacked sadly in skill.
again not to win but for fun (sinse every one else is doing many! lol
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Who one day struck very ill
His doctor said a cold
His realtor said mold
The moldy bread I ate off the window sill?
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Who once took a nasty spill
Got stuck in a log wedge
And rolled over the ledge
THERE ONCE WAS a knight named Sir Bill
(that last one I like lol yes im a genius)
There once was a Knight named Sir Bill
He dreamed of his damsel named Jill
She wanted nothing to do
It made him so blue
That he decided to pursue Lady Lill
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
He had a good friend named Sir Phil
They traveled far and wide
Until the day that they died
And they burried them high on the hill
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Of heavy armor he’d had his fill
In the dark, dead of night
There was a horrible fight
Thus ended the life of Sir Bill
Walter, your family is so fun to think of this contest!! What a blast reading everyone’s posts!
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Who never would his garden till
So the weeds all took over
It became a bed for Rover
And now Bill gets his nutrients from a pill!
Ok here goes.
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Who a lot of mighty dragons did kill
Who in the dead of night
A dragon he did smite
And there is our champion Sir Bill
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Who was knighted against his wife’s will
The king sent him to war
But he ran home before
He would suffer the wrath of Mrs. Bill.
These are awesome guys! Keep ‘em coming!
I made up a limerick in my head a few years back, and it just so happens to fit the first line of our limerick contest! Not that I’m entering in or anything, but here’s my story of our friend Sir Bill.
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Who loved to eat his fill
He piled up his plate
And ate, and ate
Then said, “Pass the beans if you will!”
Cheese. Totally cheese.
Please consider this entry for the contest , and just enjoy my other entry.
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
The thought of living in Spain had it’s thrill
He left home at age twelve
And into swordplay he delved
That’s why Zorro’s ex-name is Sir Bill
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Who spent each night sleepless until
He fought a duel with the Night
And knocked out all its daylights
With Bill’s Knightly Knock-out Sleeping Pills.
Hi all, I think this contest is fantastic first of all, and second of all I think the notion of having everyone vote on the limericks is great — but, you know, being the character of questionable nature that I am, I was just wondering about exactly how the judging is going to go down, and what prevents me from doing a few sneaky deeds in my own favor. Such as… voting for myself for instance? Honestly guys, I love myself, I really do. Orrrr, if you were to outlaw that, if I were very sneaky indeed – who, me? – I might just be inclined to vote for a post that I knew was unlikely to win, simply for the purpose of taking votes away from my nearest competitors. Heh heh, I mean, I’m sure there’s no one that sneaky among us, right? Right? Hey, who are you looking at?
There once was a night named Sir Bill
Who sat secluded upon a hill
With tears in his eyes
For years he had cried
Repentant of his selfish will
Maybe it is obvious that I am not a poet but I had fun trying to create a limerick thanks for the challenge.
Since it’s passed midnight, we’ll give you a couple more funnies we came up with. Boy, was this fun and so hard to stop once you get on a roll!
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Whose armor caused him often to spill
One night at the table
He soaked rich Aunt Mabel
Who promptly took him out of her will.
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
Who had 32 kids with wife Jill
He homeschooled them all
The youngest was Paul
Who’s now Head of Kings College, Seville.
There once was a knight named Sir Bill
His best attribute was his iron will
When the battle arose
He valiantly took on his foes
Now a statue honors him on yon hill.
Thanks for putting together the contest! It’s been tons of fun for our family!!
There once was a Knight named Sir Bill
Who couldn’t get out of the Chill
For in New York it is cold,
It made him grow old,
and trade in his sword for a quill!
