I’ve been meaning for a long time now to chronicle a basic example of our trips to Tennessee, but I keep forgetting to take pictures! (I tend to be somewhat of a forgetful person I’m afraid) Well, I’m happy to say that this week I’ve been a faithful photographer, or family journalist or whatever you wish to call it, as you will soon see from the many pictures I snapped.
On this particular trip to Tennessee, our main focus was going back a second time to the properties that stood out the most to us. We prayed that morning that God would narrow down our possibilities, and shut or close doors for us so our list of decisions/choices wouldn’t be so broad. Well, He did just that for us, in ways that I never imagined! It always seems to happen that way, doesn’t it?
There’s one piece of land in particular that we’ve taken a liking to; a six acre section of pasture land on __________ Road. No final decision has been made at this point; it remains a possibility. Though I can’t help but wonder, will this be our home, or will this be where we live? It’s all in God’s hands: He knows our future!
As usual, we had fun in the car with Mr. Dan, and even got to talk a little with him about spiritual matters; a very light conversation, but it’s a beginning nonetheless. On our return journey to Virginia we got stuck in traffic for two hours! (Apparently there was a tractor trailer accident on Route 81) The police blocked off the interstate for five miles – it was so strange to see 81 completely dark and empty! That was an adventure too.
Enough talk for now however – take a look at the pictures!
This week’s Dan Report for the Dan-fans ![]()
(Note: you most likely won’t appreciate this report unless you’ve read my previous post, What About Dan?)
(#1) Dan climbed over the fence into ____________ Road property, and ping! the top board broke off. Nate and I grinned at each other; “Oooh! You broke the fence!” Mr. Dan quickly tied it back ‘together’ with a few strings of hay-bale string.
“Nobody will notice.” Sure…
Of course only that could happen to Dan!
(#2.) My family was trying to share a little bit about Christ with Mr. Dan, and asked him to recommend some churches in the area. When discussing what denomination we were, he asked, “You’re Mormons, right?” We cracked up!
Wow. Mormans. I guess he thought this because of our large family? Only Dan…
(#3.) We were in the lobby of a hotel we normally meet Mr. Dan at to plan our options for the day, or discuss pros and cons afterwards; Nate and I were wandering about, and picked up a Real Estate book to browse through together. As we flipped through its pages, we came to one had a caption, A Buyer’s Best Choice Realty. Hey! the business which Mr. Dan works for! There were the names of his co-workers and their pictures over there… then we saw Mr. Dan’s name, and above it, a portrait of a bald man with large glasses. Nate and I looked at each other; Dan? Although Mr. Dan occasionally wears glasses, he most definitely is not bald!
I know; it may not seem that funny, but at the moment we were hysterical! Once we were able to calm ourselves, we learned that the Realty company had put the wrong picture beside Mr. Dan’s name. A mistake like that could only happen to Dan…
What came next, you say? To be honest, we got kicked out of the hotel! We made the ‘AmericInn’ lobby our perpetual meeting place for the past five weeks, only to learn that the computer, couches and fireplace is for the relaxation and convenience of paying guests; the man kindly asked us to leave.
Ah well. I suppose we’ll have to find another place to meet from now on. Too bad – that computer was handy!
Have a great day y’all!
-Kasie
