Easter in Virginia

March 27th, 2008

And a lovely Easter day it was at that!

The plan was for us to spend our Easter dinner and evening with Karlyn’s parents at their house not far from here. And so, after church in the morning and a few hours in the afternoon of baking and cooking for the occasion, the whole lot of us piled into Jason’s 15 passenger van, and headed for the Grandparents’ house.

15 people in a 15 passenger van… A cozy ride ’twas, but we all fit and it saved on gas! With a few church basketball games or field trips in which we’ve carpooled together, we’re getting quite used to it by now. :-)

Over the river, through the woods, to Grandmother’s (and Grandfather’s!) house we go!

Well, not quite over the river or through the woods, but to Grandma and Grandpa’s house we did indeed go! (Karlyn’s parents) When we arrived Mrs. A had set the long table with her best china, silver spoons and soft cloth napkins (nice and ‘fancified), and from the kitchen came the delicious aroma of food ready to be eaten. :-)

It was a beautiful day outside, filled with blooming flowers and budding trees (yes, Spring is come!), and Grandma and Grandpa A. have 10 acres of land, so a lot of time was spent enjoying the outdoors. The boys played a few rounds of football while Grandpa walked about the grounds with Joseph and I, showing us the old graveyard in the woods and the ruins of an old general store. Their house, built in the 1800′s, used to be a stagecoach stop and inn; you can imagine what neat tid-bits of history there is to be had in such a place!

There was an Easter egg hunt for the kids, games, lots of scrumptious dishes and desserts, and fellowship with brothers and sisters in the Lord. What a wonderful celebration of Christ’s Resurrection!

But enough said on the subject; it’s time for some pictures! (y’all knew that was coming…)
Once I saw the table set so beautifully for dinner, the camera was drawn out of its pouch and I simply never put it back – too many great opportunities for picture taking! Enjoy browsing through them all.

So what’d y’all do for the occasion? Hope you had a great one!

To God be the glory!

-Kasie

These photos really show your improvement as a photographer. The composition and framing are top notch. You have become quite the ar-teest.

I thought the table was set beautifully. Excellent choice of table linen colors, in my unbiased opinion. :-D

I forgot to say that they have an exceptionally long dining room table.

It sure was fun! The sunset was beautiful. Joe and I sat outside and watched it for a little while together.

Thank you so much Aunt Frances! That means a lot to me. I need to work on my people pictures though. It’s hard to capture a candid, or take decent photos when indoors with strange lighting.
Yes, the table colors were indeed to you liking! Purple! And their dining table is extremely long! But even so, we had to add two card tables in the corners for eight others. We had quite a large party!

    BTW, funky avatar!

Yes, I hasten to agree, excellent artistry. The askew one of the china is the best in my estimation, I can’t decide which is my favorite though. Perhaps the sunset. Josh and I had some fine merriment over the one of Jason, and Nate’s usual expressive expressions. Looks like a happy time.
