Housing Progress

April 14th, 2008

Several days ago we received a call from our salesman (for our manufactured house) “Buddy,” saying that our double-wide was finished and on the lot, ready for us to come see it and give the ‘okay’!

We were pleasantly surprised at how quickly it was finished – only three weeks! But needless to say, we packed our cameras and a few snacks and headed down to Tennessee the next morning to check out our new house!

We were, to say in the least, ‘exceedingly pleased with it on the whole…‘ Actually, we loved it! In the words of our friend Buddy, “it is HUGE!” :-) 2000 sq. ft. sure is a nice amount of space to have on one floor! There’s a half fire place in the sunken den, double decker ovens in the large kitchen, three bathrooms, four bedrooms, and a big attic upstairs.

Other than a few minor details that have yet to be finished, everything was perfect, just the way we had ordered it. And so a few sheets of legal paperwork were read over and passed around, a fat check was signed, and the Willi left Tennessee that day the proud owners of two halves of a house. :-)

When the weather cleared a few days later, all was ready for our house to be trucked in and set on our property. Not wanting to miss out on all the action, we once again packed our bags, snacks, and cameras, and traveled down to Tennessee to watch the excitement!

A few days after that, we journeyed down once more to see our nearly finished house (roof and all!), and spend the afternoon working the land some more.

God bless your day!

Yes indeed! I’m particularly excited about our double-decker ovens! In the model, there was a microwave on top. But since we hardly ever use a microwave, we decided to get two ovens instead. How nice it’ll be!

Just how I imagined it — good describing, DLF. Looks magnificent, finally getting your nice big honking kitchen to cook nice big honking (cabbages?) in. Somehow I feel like all that culinary artillary is going to waste a bit… Angie looks so nice. Nice hat. Nice Angie. Are those new sunglasses Nate has? Wicked. I like Walter’s flower shot. And the fire, lovely fire. And your new avatar is very cute, that hat rocks socks. As does the head in the hat. Three cheers for the new mecca of all us little people. (and right on Esther about our heavenly accommodations. The golden road to unlimited devotion)

    ‘Both sides…’ *groan* :-)

Hey Gabi! We’ll probably move in in three or four weeks, more or less. It all depends on when we get electric, water, and septic, and that depends on the weather. I’m so excited!

Good to ‘see’ you around again, Andrew! Hope you’re doing well.

Yes, we have an extra bedroom for guests, but I doubt you’d want to be up in the attic during the summer – it’s HOT up there! Just yesterday it was in the lower 70′s, and the attic was stuffy and roasting. Nice in the winter, not nice in the summer.:-)

Cabbages my foot! Buddy’s made me promise I’ll bake him some bread and cookies, and invite him over for dinner someday. Those ovens will definitely come in handy! But glad my description, your imagination, and the real picture all agree with one another Mr. Darcy. ‘Tis such a beautiful place!
And BTW, Nate’s had those sunglasses for a looong time.
