Costume Designs

April 26th, 2008

One of my hobbies lately, or one of those “things to do in the car” have been drawing costume designs. I am currently taking a break from sewing, but I still like to figure out what my next project is going to be!

I thought I’d share them with y’all, because I do intend to sew these all this year (Lord willing), and I thought it would be cool to post the original concepts. Already my fingers are itching to start on something… ;-)

And what would I do with all these dresses, you ask? Oh! What a question! They would be very handy for balls, tea parties, plays, reenactments, festivals, movies, parties, or just dressing up for fun. :-) Plus sewing historic clothing gives me dressmaking experience, bargain-hunting skills, and even history. I just get excited thinking about the possibilities!

I relish the thought of some of these hanging in my closet someday :-D

Here there be comments...

Angie, these are fabulous!! You’ve got a career as a designer if you wanted to go that route.

@Aunt Frances – Well I just copied the designs to be exact :-) They are reproductions after all.

@Gabi – heh heh…I could use a lot more improvement…;-) Haven’t gotten the hang of making my models look natural, they look rather posed.

Love the Victorian riding habit!! I’d love to find something similar to that only with short split-riding skirt for our younger daughter for fair. Classy!
