“Bye Dad. I’ll really miss you!”
It was Sunday evening, May 25th. Dad was on his way out to travel down to Tennessee and work at his new job (a security guard on a college campus). He had left last week also for the same reason, and the days seemed to drag by without him.
“I won’t see you for a while again.” I squeezed Dad tightly and gave him a kiss.
“It’s only for a few more days,” he reassured me, “less than a week actually. Goodbye everyone! I’ll see you soon!”
“Bye Dad!” we waved to him and watched our mini van disappear down the driveway.
Soon…eh?
“Please Aslan, what do you call soon?”
“I call all times, soon.”
-Lucy to Aslan in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
It seems as if we’ve been saying we’ll move ‘soon’ for the past two months. When folks inquire about our moving date, our reply is usually “we don’t know for certain, but it’ll be very soon.”
Well, now we really are moving soon. Our date is set for May 31st. Dad will be back on that Saturday after a night of working, and from there we’ll pack up the moving truck, bid farewell to our fabulous hosts, and be off! (we’ll sleep in on Sunday morning) That’s “the plan” anyway. Please pray that everything goes well!
So it really is soon! I can’t wait!
-Kasie
