My Latest Projects (And Post #200!!)

August 8th, 2008

Its hard to believe that this is post number 200!  I would like to thank all of our readers for…….well….reading :) And even though out of 200 posts I’ve only written around 5 that does not mean that I haven’t been doing anything.

Mom’s been keeping me busy with carpentry projects.

Here is a ‘cubby hole’ for our shoes in the mudroom.  And if you think it still looks messy, you should have seen it before!

Another project was to build a wishing well to cover up our “ugly” well.  I told mom that this is going to be expensive, but thankfully I was able to use the scrap wood that the carpenters left when they built the deck.

Here’s the “ugly looking” well. :)

Hey Nate…what a GREAT project and GREAT job! Something much more lovely to look at too! I new it could only be something you would do…Mr. Carpenter! Now you need to get one of your sisters to plant some perennials around it to soften the lines and anchor it…so it looks like its been there all along. If you don’t have deer (do you?), hostas would be perfect (that’s what I planted around my well here in P’ok., but then we are fenced). Or, another planting that deer do not like is lambs ear. It is a medicinal herb and is a very soft silvery plant, native to the south as it is weather tolerant and easy to grow. Actually, during the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, it grew wild in the fields of the south and were used as bandages for the soldiers. (Check it out here: http://www.thisgardenisillegal.com/2006/07/lambs-ear-natures-teddy-bear-and-band.html). Just some thoughts to consider. Perhaps this could be your next ‘project.’ Carpenters and gardeners work VERY well together :-) Have fun! Sheila

Hey, Bill beat me to the “gift from God” comment. *pout*

But seriously, your work looks great, Nate. It’s also a treat to see you posting.

I’m going to need some bookshelves when I move…..

Bill – Yes, mom does have a bunch of projects for me! I think the next one is to build a bridge over our little creek.

Mrs. Delson – Thank you for those lovely ideas! The girls are planning to plant flowers and vines around it. We do have some deer here but mainly rabbits.

    Wow Nate, those are amazing!

Ever since we moved up here (4 years) we have been wanting to get one of those wishing wells to cover our “ugly well,” but since there are no carpenters in the family, we have never gotten around to getting one =). Your family is really blessed to have you!

Throw in your 2 cents. Or 10. Actually, we'll take as much as you give us.
