Backyard Nature

August 21st, 2008

Guess what I found at Providence Glen!!! I was nonchalantly picking flowers the other day when I came across a rare creature of God’s creation.

Which soon lead to a full-fledged “photo op” of Providence Glen! (Haven’t had one of those in a while :-D )

Enjoy!

Kasie took some pictures of the praying mantis, and I wandered around and took the rest. It was just one day where I was really relaxed and didn’t wiggle the camera like I usually do!

Quite lovely Angie. And a grand find in that mantis. Not sure whether you knew this already, but the word “mantis” means prophet or seer (to be “mantic” is to be kind of mystical and such): thus the mantis is a “praying prophet”. Ask it kindly and perhaps it will bestow good fortune on you.

Much more likely it will end up ebing malevolent. Insects are known for their evil tendencies. I wouldn’t trust it.

Buy a cat. They like mantises.

You have a veritable wild kingdom there! Praying mantis, butterfly, and a giant bee hovering over the house. ;-)

The praying mantis actually looked like it was wearing one of your dress creations, with a green panel in the skirt part. :-D
