Everything Tacky

December 14th, 2008

Last night we had the best of times participating in a “Tacky Party” at our friends’ house. It’s a Christmas party essentially, involving a White Elephant gift exchange, games, and dressing as tacky as possible! Check it out:

After a delicious potluck spread (in which we “tackily” forgot to bring a dish), everyone gathered in a circle to begin the White Elephant gift exchange. To add fun to the hilarious theme of the party, most people brought a gift that was – you guessed it – tacky.

*If you’ve never been to a White Elephant before, now’s the time to look up the rules online, invite a bunch of friends, throw a party this Christmas or for New Years. It’s so much fun!

Game Time:

Camera wars are great! Everyonce in a while, that is. You can’t over do it, if you know what I mean. :-) But I hadn’t had the pleasure in a long time, so I really enjoyed “battling” it out with Evan, Josiah and Elijah. We managed to squeeze in quite a few pictures while everyone was preparing to “leave” (which always takes at least 15 minutes longer than when Moms first tell you).

As you can see, we had an absolute blast! It was the neatest thing getting ready to attend a party, and yet search for something tacky to wear – the reverse of what’s usually done! We enjoyed so much fellowshipping and having fun with our friends. I hope there’s another party next year!

    @Justin
    Just precisely the point, my friend!

    @Esther
    I knew you would get a kick out of our costumes! Did you notice my shirt was inside out? The tag stuck out and everything. And I loved my miss matched socks and shoes!

    Definitely do it again next year. Ya’ll are invited already :) Jeremy and I have been discussing a new annual party (cause we don’t want to wait till next Christmas). Perhaps a tacky tea party in the summer.
    We can play tacky games outside too – how can we tacky up badminton, volleyball and croquet? We’ll have to all put our heads together….we can churn some fresh ice cream, grill veggies from the garden, eat watermelon….yummy!
    Love ya’ll,
    Cheri

    …um, yeah, so I thought you guys were going to a ‘tacky’ party – and I did not see any sticky tack or tacks or anything in all those pictures?! I do so hope your hosts were not offended that you did not stick (pun intended) with the theme of the party.

    However, I did see quite a few lovely outfits – and hair dos! I thank you, sincerely, for aiding me in my pursuit of high fashion!

    Happy Christmas –
    Camille

    @Cheri
    Thanks for the invite! We accept. :-) That summer tacky party sounds like fun too (I’m sure you guys will think of something). I can just imagine us dressed up in our tacky outfits and playing a game of…say croquet or something. Ha! That’s perfect!

    @Camille
    Wow, your intended pun sounds like something HAF would say! :-) Oh yes, and so glad we were able to be of assistance to you with our fashion ideas.

    Love the outfits! And I especially love Mom’s hair. It reminds me of something Angie and Kasie once did to my hair… ;-)

    I laughed at Camille’s pun. :-D

    Also, that purple feather boa is something I would wear with dignity.

    @HAF
    I thought so. :-) It’s only tacky because guys usually don’t wear frilly, purply scarves like that.
