Gone Sewing

December 19th, 2008

Pattern pieces are being cut…

…a hum from the sewing machine fills the room…

…all of this careful construction in preparation and anticipation of our Civil War Ball!

Some may argue that March 29th is ‘still a long ways off,’ but knowing myself and my procrastinating ways, I need to get this done now.

In the upcoming months Angie and I will be teaching/aiding friends and other homeschoolers with sewing their ball gowns. Since I don’t know for sure how much time we’ll have to work on our own costumes, we’re using this time while we can!

Isn’t my fabric so pretty? :-)

P.S. Angie said to tell anyone who may wonder about her recent disappearance from our family blog that she’s gone sewing…

Here there be comments...

    The fabric is beautiful. No photograph could possibly capture the way the light plays off of it.

    Lovely! Very pretty trimming.
    I agree…A few month is a short time, when planning a ball. ;) Especially when you have to make a lot of things for it.
    Happy sewing!

    Thanks guys!

    @Melody
    The pattern we’re using is Simplicity 2881 (http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/patterns/sewingpatterns.pl?patternid=19037), but I’m going to be changing so much on my dress, I’m really only using this as a basis.

    @Sarah
    The trim is my favorite part too! Hopefully I’ll be able to get some matching pink fabric to make little rosettes out of to match!

    @Em
    It’s scary how expensive this stuff is! The fabric wasn’t even the worse either – just the notions were steep! At least I have it all now.

Throw in your 2 cents. Or 10. Actually, we'll take as much as you give us.
