Life is “good”, as they say, but also very busy! I put together a few pictures of what’s been going on around here lately.

    Cats truly are amazing creatures, huh? Gotta love it!

    Looks like you guys have been having a lot of fun around your place. Now, I have to ask…you seem to already have a lot of friends in your new area – did you know these people before moving to the area??

    Did your dad hunt for a place where you would have like-minded folks around?

    Blessings -

    @Camille
    We knew nobody when we first moved here. During our first few months in our new home last summer we visited lots of different churches, waiting to hear from the Lord where He would have us settle (we wanted to go to a church, not because we liked the format or programs, but because God put us there). I was so impatient to meet people at the time, and therefore impatient to be a part of a church family, but God knew what He was doing, as usual. :-)

    At the beginning of the new school year was when things ‘started rolling’ I guess. We joined the local homeschool group and participated in activities with them, and the Lord showed Dad the church family He wanted us to be apart.

    Since then we’ve met the neatest people! We have wonderful, loving friends with whom the Lord has knit our hearts together. We have been truly, truly blessed!

    Does that answer your question? :-P

    How did your talent show performance go? Looks like a blast! Love the costumes!

    Hey Chloe! The talent show was lots of fun (man, that was one crazy/awesome day!). Everyone really liked our music (we played “Tattered Old Flag” and “My God”), and at the end we even did a spontaneous demonstration dance with our friends. We got a lot of people interested in our ball after that! :-) And of course it was gobs of fun to dress up!

    BTW, I’m told that what we wore is not a “costume”, but rather period dress. Our homeschool group leader gets me on that one every time! (she reenacts) Costumes have zippers and other modern devices, period dress is something people of that era would wear; something truly authentic. :-)

    Hey Kasie…

    That DOES answer my question. I am so very happy for you all – and I have to admit, a bit jealous! We do not have a homeschooling group in our area. We go to conferences as they roll around – but for the most part – aside from email groups (and wonderful people like you that we have met through the internet) we are lone soldiers in our corner of the world.

    I try to be content where the Lord has us planted. Would you guys pray for me (and us) in that area?? Through different blogs I see just how much fellowship others have with believers and fun, unique experiences – which is something we get maybe once or twice or year. Though, last year the Lord opened another door of opportunity for us. So I am very thankful – it’s just the day-to-day that sometimes I think – oh Lord, is this really, truly where you want us??

    I have to do better about being quiet before the Lord and listening to His voice!

    ….and how much fun to dress up in period costumes for you all! We don’t have very many ‘reenactors’ out this way – at least, that I have seen or heard of, but when I was little, I always thought that it would be a lot of fun!

    Many blessings -
    Camille

    Oh, how sad! We’ll definitely keep you guys in prayer. God is ever faithful!

    @Camille
    Yes, I’ll be sure to pray for you guys! God always has a reason for where He places His children, though we usually don’t know why. I need to remember how blessed I am! I forget too easily how hard it was for me during our first few months here.

    A lot of folk have an interest in Civil War history around here. In NY it was Colonial and Revolutionary War stuff (understandably, because of the location). And yes, it is really fun to dress up! You should try dancing in a hoop skirt sometime – whew! It’s quite an experience. :-D

    @Camille,
    Our move to Tennessee was definitely the Lord’s doing, and what he does is perfect. There is no way possible I could have ever orchestrated everything that has occurred within the last 365 days. I planned on easing my way toward a gentle retirement in the country. (Remember the show “Green Acres”?). Well, the “acres” have been growing greener all the time! (So much for retiring).
    Anyway, God has you where you are to bring light to where the darkness is so that others can see that light. You and your family have certainly been a great light to our family and we will continue to pray for all of you.
    God Bless!!

    I rejoice to hear of Angie’s healing!
    My younger sister Dinah had a difficult time a couple years ago. A naturopathic/MD gave us advise that turned things around. Though Dr. Casey gives all the credit to God for any healing.
    May God give you grace and perseverance to continue to build your body for the sake of children yet to be born!
