More Projects!

May 25th, 2009

Just because I almost never post, that does not mean that I haven’t been busy.  For the past month Mom has been keeping me busy with many projects around the house.

compost-pile2

- A compost pile (that is starting to get full :) )

clothes-line1

- A clothes line

walkway1

- A very nice walkway if I do say so myself!

bridge1

- A bridge over our tiny little creek.

So thats what I have been up to lately.

    Wow! You’re quite the handyman, Nate! We’re impressed. Peter does these kinds of projects around here. What would we do without him?

    So, do you toss the compost with a pitchfork or do you have another way of circulating air through it?

    Nice post.

    Great job. We see a tree house with a very nigh rope swing going out over the horse pasture in your future. :)

    Yay! Nate posted! :-P

    @Dischers
    We’re doing a compost method our farming friends told us about, which is, in simple steps: fill up the one compost bin: build another beside it and toss the contents of the first inside: fill up the first compost bin again: once full, build a third one beside the second one: toss the contents of the second into the third, and the contents of the first into the second. The idea is that by the time you fill up the FIRST compost bin for a THIRD time, your first batch (the one in the third bin) is ready for the garden.

    I hope that made sense! It can be rather confusing. It’s certainly not the quickest way to do compost, but it decomposes at a natural pace, and is minimal work for us. PLUS it makes more jobs for Nate! :-) Soon it’ll be time for him to make our second compost bin!

    @Faith – I’ve thought of that before ;)

    @Bill – I think Mom is giving a little taste of the Honey-Do-List. I don’t mind it though, I really enjoy doing outside work.

    @Esther – Thanks!

    As serviceable a compost heap as I’ve ever seen. We have a similar one, but in practice it ends up becoming enveloped in the heap itself.

    I am all for a bridge over the creek. And my new sneakers are, too.
