We love you so much!

We love you so much!
The blueberry season is doing very well here in Tennessee. They say that if the rain continues like it is, we’ll be eating blueberries through mid August!
Well, that’s certainly what we’ll be doing; we picked 5 1/2 gallons!
It was early Saturday morning when we set out with our friends to ‘raid’ the blueberry farm, not five minutes from Providence Glen. We brought our buckets, sampled a few blueberries to make sure they were good (okay, maybe a bit more…)
, and began picking!
After our delightful outing, I realized that I hadn’t taken my signature self portrait the whole time! I pulled out our camera again to finish the job, but the end results I got were very different than expected…
Happy Monday everyone!

Beware if you ever leave an ATV in the hands of these guys!
Their fingers twitch, their eyes widen and glaze over as they move slowly towards it with outstretched arms…
Sitting in the seat of an ATV, they’re in their element!
Only one girl had the courage to ride with them, one at a time, as they each drove her over rough terrain, and bringing her airborne as they sped over the most feared ATV trap ever: the bump.
She surived both rides and escaped safely with no bruises whatsoever – brave girl!
It was only until a week later that this daring duo realized they weren’t suppose to go over the speed of 25 miles per hour (oops!).

Two kittens, Merry and Pippin!
We weren’t planning on getting more cats, even after dear Faramir died (at least, not unto my knowledge), but this morning an opportunity came, and we took it!
Mom got a call from our friend who was at the local Farmer’s Market, asking us if we wanted anymore kittens. Apparently a lady had come to the market with a litter of four kittens, and was offering them to anyone who wanted them. Angie made many a trip up and down our hill, from the phone to Mom in the garden, and at last was able to convey that yes! we’d love two more kittens.
It was a busy morning! Mom and I had already been to the Farmer’s Market earlier to shop around and see some friends, and on top of that, we were all in the middle of picking blackberries and working in the garden. Nevertheless we made it to town in time (I was driving – that’s why!
), and brought home our kitties. We immediately named them “Merry” and “Pippin”, keeping the Lord of the Rings tradition going.

I just had to add this photo. Doesn’t Merry look a bit like a rat in this particular pose? I thought it hilarious!
So that’s our excitement for the day, and both kittens are making themselves at home alright. Let’s hope Boromir takes them well. Their first encounter this morning didn’t turn out too well:

Our garden is doing superb! The picture above is just a small bit of what we harvest everyday, and certainly only a sample of the amount of blackberries we get! (we have a LOT of blackberries) Sometimes Dad will be picking outside for hours, and return with a huge mixing bowl full of berries! We’ve begun freezing and canning – especially with our beans. We have so many beans (and starting to get that way with cucumbers and squash).
It’s so cool to prepare a meal with vegetables we grew from our own garden!
Anybody else do a garden this year?
-Kasie
P.S. [to give you an idea of how much veggies we get] Last week was the first time we had to buy lettuce from the grocery store in about two straight months! That’s saying a lot, because if you know our family, you know what ridiculous amounts of lettuce we go through!
Today is John Calvin’s 500th birthday!!!

There is much that could be said about Calvin – his life, his theology, and his enduring legacy (which we benefit from today). Calvin was arguably the most influential man of his millennium! And his doctrines of God’s sovereignty, human depravity, and Grace STILL edify and instruct Christians.
I recently bought Calvin’s definitive work, “Institutes of the Christian Religion”, and have found it very good! The pages are loaded with meat, and packed full of scripture.

Sola Scriptura! (By Scripture alone)
Sola Fide! (By Faith alone)
Sola Gratia! (By Grace alone)
Solo Christo! (Through Christ alone)
Soli Deo Gloria! (Glory to God alone)
