Weekend Festivities

September 2nd, 2009

Sunday was a busy day! We had church in the morning (early morning, since we were doing worship this week), and after dropping our instruments off at home, went on to truck driving school, a concert and baseball game!

A month or so ago, one of the gentlemen we know from church bought a truck. Not just any truck, but a big, tough, army truck! (known as a “deuce and a half”) He wanted all the men in our congregation to know how to drive it, so if ever we had a need to move something huge, a driver would be available. The boys (Walter and Nate) learned weeks ago when Mr. Ron had guys from the church over, but he decided to have another “truck driving school”. This time, everybody gets to try driving the big truck!

Did somebody say “everybody”? Oh yeah, you can bet I drove it, and yes, it was sweet! The truck is automatic and has powered steering, but it’s still hard to turn that wheel where you want it! The parking break was also extremely stiff – had to use some elbow grease there. :-)

If you ever go to a baseball game, be sure you bring lots of good friends with you – it triples the fun you have!

Directly after truck driving school we drove to the baseball stadium, just in time to enjoy our friends’ concert before the game started. It was a wonderful afternoon! We listened to great music, watched the game every once in a while :-) , and just had a fabulous time with our friends.

As Requested…

…pictures of the horses, who are doing so well! So here you go Miss Julie, as requested. Mr. Sully and Miss Violet.

Doesn’t she look great? Big difference from the poor, skinny horse I first knew.

As you can see I’ve been lunging both of them. They do pretty well! I’m proud. :-)

violet2

Violet has a beautiful gait and moves so gracefully!

Go Sully, go! He’s so cute. :-) “Mr. Ears”, as Nate calls him (on account of his paying attention to every little thing).

Time to go for some treats for a job well done! And no, that’s not a terribly long lead rope, it’s my lunge rope (one of my birthday present!). I put it to great use. :-)
