Of Birthday Festivities #2

October 20th, 2009

Last week must’ve been the week for celebrating 16th birthdays, for in addition to Josiah’s party, we threw one for our new and dear friend, Ashlee, on Friday. This time, it was to be a surprise!

…well, “semi-surprise” is better put. We kept it a secret successfully until twelve hours prior when Ashlee put together many clues and curious details. She figured we were going to surprise her, but she didn’t know when, until we came knocking on her door practically!

Ah! We had such great fun together, as always. Among our festivities planned for the day, we had an airsoft battle! (that’s almost getting to be routine around here!) Ashlee and I had a little surprise of our own to add to that, which you’ll see in the pictures.

You know an airsoft battle has gone well when the all girls don’t mind playing again! We didn’t actually have time for that though, for next up for our birthday activities was to have a barn dance!

Angie and I are delighted to discover that Ashlee’s family has a wonderful barn for dancing in. We came prepared with music and dance instructions, taught a few new sets and danced away! It was very cold for a Fall day, but as any of our readers who have done vintage dancing before know, the dancing keeps you plenty warm. :-)

After a pizza dinner, it was our plan to go to the corn maze in the dark, but here the weather prevented us; it was pouring rain outside, as well as being quite cold. We’ll have to reschedule. But here’s a picture of us all before departing!

Half of us returned to Ashlee’s house and finished off the party with some music, and an energetic game of “spoons”.  Ashlee said it was probably the best birthday party she’s ever had! It was awesome. Even if the surprise wasn’t a complete surprise, it was great fun!

Happy Birthday Ashlee!

    What a blast! Don’t you guys know that home educated kids are supposed to be awkward and unsocialized??? hehehehehe

    That barn is fantastic! …as was the birthday celebration you had for your new friend.

    Blessings -

    I know, right? As Dad always says when we’re having fun like this, “These poor unsocialized homeschoolers…deprived children…” :-D

    Yes. Hmmmmm. Backward and lacking indoctrination. You mean you have not conformed and entered the dark side?

    Enjoying real life with real friends and real fun and real experiences and real learning. Just so sad… LOL

    I absolutely adored that girly swagger you had, Kasie. LOL Look out! The ladies are coming. We look good while we are takin’ you out!

    @Em
    Hehe, yeah. Ashlee dug those up in her basement for us. (they were her brother’s old things) You should try a thrift store if you want some! It’s much easier and probably cheaper.

    @Faith
    Ditto!

    @Esther
    I did not steal it! Everyone knows you can wear leggings underneath skirts/dresses for more warmth or coverage. It’s a well known fact of fashion. Humph! :-P

    @ETA
    No problemo bro! Although it was funny…

    [...] Our friends did a fabulous job of building a second floor to their barn (which we’ve used for parties and New Year’s festivities). It was gorgeous! They had to raise the floor in a certain area [...]
