Church Work/Garage Sale Day

August 19th, 2010

Our church is moving! The Lord has blessed us with the opportunity to rent for a low cost, but, the building needs some work and heavy duty cleaning. So, in preparation to move in by the end of the month, we held a garage sale to get rid of a lot of “stuff”, and also got to work on the interior!

It’s amazing how early “garage-sale-goers” arrive!  Ours began at 8 AM, but people were showing up before we did!

Sunday Fellowship!

August 7th, 2010

Every summer our church usually puts together a schedule we like to call “Sunday Summer Fellowship”; simply pick a Sunday afternoon, plan an activity, and do it! This past weekend we hosted a picnic at one of our favorite spots by the river, and spent several hours swimming, wading, splashing, picnicking, and fellowshipping. It’s just wonderful to be with our brothers and sisters in Christ!

I didn’t take the camera with me when I was in the river (for what I hope are obvious reasons :-) ), but I did steal some photos from friends, as usually, so take a look!

My favorite part of the day? Riding down a miniature waterfall. That was awesome!

Music in the Near Future?

August 14th, 2008

We’ve always loved playing music as a family, and especially worshiping the Lord together. But of course, you guys already know that! God really blessed us with the opportunity to be on the worship team at church in NY for many years. (Good times, eh Mr. Darcy?)

And now I wonder what He has in store for us now. We can’t (or at least, I can’t) shake the feeling that something is brewing….

We’ve been doing the church visiting thing over the past few months, and one of the first questions everyone asks is, “So, do y’all play any music?” We must look really obvious! :)

But then we lead worship for a cute little local church a few weeks ago – and now people say “So, we heard y’all play real pretty music! You should play here!” (I guess in a small town, word travels fast).

So…. We’re praying for God’s wisdom and guidance. Dad says that if something is brewing, jump into the pot!

Farewell Concert

October 27th, 2007

Last Sunday, the Willi held a “farewell concert” for all of our friends and family! We’ve been so blessed by all of them over the years, and we wanted to give them one last gift before we go. I believe it would be safe to say that the concert was a smashing hit!

We debuted many of our own songs, with titles like “After Your Heart”, “For You”, “I Am Unworthy”, and “The Blues Song”, just to name a few. Maybe sometime we’ll cut an album.

After the concert, Mom and Dad got a surprise “roasting”! They entered the “Twighlight Zone”, Dad got arrested by Inspector Holmes of the NYPD, and both of them received “Homeless” posters! It was great.

Now for the pictures…. Before you start the slideshow, click the little blue play button next to “that tattered old flag”. That way you can watch the images and hear one of our songs at the same time for optimal audio/visual experience. :) (Sorry the images appear dark, and that some the heads are chopped off! These are bugs that I’m working on….. For now though, you might want to click “view as picture list” to avoid chopped heads, lol!)

Thank you Aunt Frances for the pictures! (Good captions coming later… when I find the time)

Pastor Appreciation

October 10th, 2007

October is commonly known among churches as Pastor Appreciation Month. In all the years that we’ve been with our dear little church, we’ve always cooked up something special for our pastor and his family; a vacation, collaborative gifts, surprise parties, etc… This year we planned a potluck, and surprised our pastor’s family towards the end with our many cards, thank-yous, and presents. It was so special! The party was spent indoors, outdoors, in conversation, or indulging in pine cone wars and climbing trees. :-) What a blessed time we had! However, I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves, and you’ll see what I mean.

We love you Holmes family and church!

The Pride and Prejudice Play

September 29th, 2007

“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.”

So begins the classic and beloved tale of Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen. We the Willi, and our friends at our church, have long enjoyed the novel’s wit, humor, and Victorian dignity. So, over the summer, we’ve been working on a play!

The following images are a preview – partly to test out a new image viewer plugin that I installed…. :) The production date is set a couple of weeks from now. I doubt we’ll be completely polished – but we’ll have fun anyway!
