Congratulations, graduates!

Studio Days

April 30th, 2011

Yep, we’re back in the studio again! That may be the reason for our absence on the blog lately…

Making a CD takes lots of work, lots of time, and lots of music practices, but we’re having a blast! It’s been great working with our friends at Windrush Productions again for our second project. We’re about halfway through the recording process before we get to take a break while our sound engineer mixes, and…well, engineers. :-)

~Nate, our “Mr. Bass Man”

~Walter, our main songwriter, singer and leader. Go, bro!

~One of my favorite places to be…playing the piano.

~Angie, putting down violin tracks in the ‘isolation chamber’ (also one of my favorite places to be :-) ).

~We’re blessed to have our friend and awesome drummer, Jeremy, join us for this project! Thank you so much, Jeremy!

Be looking for a release this summer – it’s going to be good. At least, we think so! :-D

Cinderella Ballet Rehearsals

January 17th, 2011

You may have already heard through facebook or by word of mouth, but we’re involved with another ballet! Remember production of Exodus that CBT (Central Ballet Theater) put on last year? Walter was in the cast, Angie did make-up, and Nate and I were part of the backstage crew. Well, the story for this year’s ballet is Cinderella, and this time Angie and Dad, as well as Walter, will be dancing onstage!

Here are a few sneak peak pictures:

~Angie and Ashlee started taking ballet about a year ago, and were so excited to have such cute costumes for the village scene!

~We convinced some of our friends to get involved – Evan’s in the ballet too!

~One of the ballroom scenes; David stands in for the prince during the  “pas de deux” (in simple terms, the classic ballet dance between a guy and girl :-) )

~I spy Walter and Angie!

~Look at ‘em go!

~What you’ll normally find me doing: repairing costumes. :-) (or quick changing dancers)

~The footman brings Elizabeth the slipper to try on. The stepsisters are hilarious in this ballet!

I don’t have any pictures of Dad because he was unable to make it to this particular rehearsal, but he does a great job playing the part of a fiddler, part of the dragon (yes, we have a dragon!), and a court/village man!

Show time is this weekend, 4 performances. Come and see! Plus, theWilli will be bringing you a couple of special songs before the curtain opens.

Time to get ready for a week of dress rehearsals and last minute set construction! :-)

The Willi in Nashville

January 13th, 2011

But not for musical reasons. :-) We braved the cold weather and snow and made it safely to the state capitol, where we supported a dear friend, Jeremy Faison, and watched as he and many others were sworn in as state Representatives. Go Jeremy!

Jeremy is a fellow believer, family man, conservative, pro-life, smaller government kind of guy we wanted to support, so our family – especially Mom and Walter – got involved with his campaign. After a lot of hard work and prayer, we were excited to hear that he won the election! God is so good.

~Uh, Mr. Speaker?

~Squeezed into the balcony seats. Wow, that was tight!

~All the hubbub down below before the court came to order. Personally, I found everything fascinating to watch!

After the inauguration, we joined Jeremy’s family at their apartment for an informal celebration, where we fellowshipped, and worshiped the Lord in song and music! Later that night Angie and I had fun babysitting the Faison kids while Jeremy and his wife, Miriam, attended a formal dinner.

We were in Nashville no more than 28 hours, but it was a grand time!

To God be the glory! And may the Lord bless you, Jeremy, as you embark on this new journey.

Christmas Festivities ‘N Stuff

January 2nd, 2011

A look at our December…

So things have been pretty quiet on the blog lately, I know. We had a lot going on, plus sometimes it’s difficult for me to get to the computer for a solid couple of hours. :-) But here it is: the long overdue Willi family update,  and yes, it’s a picture post! What better way to recap the month than with photos?

First, we had our dear friend Emily visit for a few days, and together we went to the Christmas Civil War Ball, and caroled around downtown.

It was our 2nd year running, so we can now officially call our festive time of dancing the annual Christmas Ball! What’s also becoming a tradition is crashing Wal-Mart afterwards in our full Civil War attire to sing Christmas carols! That’s becoming my favorite part of the entire evening. :-)

The very next day we traded our beautiful floor length gowns, suits and cravats for a completely different wardrobe. Brace yourselves for what you’re about to see: we were going to a Christmas Tacky Party!

We decorated our house with all things Christmassy…

The Bells came to visit, and we had a blast playing games and fellowshipping with one another (card throwing included!). Come again, you guys!

~Outside for target practice                                                   ~Evening discussions

…and then before we knew it, Christmas morning was upon us!

And then…

And that brings us to 2011 – Happy New Year everyone!

The King and I: Opening Weekend

November 10th, 2010

~Will and Angie, as the King and Anna

The King and I has been going full swing, and us with it! I almost feel as if the theater has become a second home, we’re there so often. :-)   Opening weekend went great! One of my favorite parts about live theater is that every performance is unique, especially with the differences that come with each audience. It certainly keeps you on your toes! But with each night we performed last week, the feedback was very favorable; everyone loved it! We’re shooting for a sellout this weekend!

Although several of our readers have probably already seen pictures from Facebook, here are some from our personal camera. Or, in other words, “this is Kasie, going from person to person, taking pictures all over the theater, backstage, and with her cast friends.”

:-D Either way, enjoy!

After our opening night performance and Angie and I made our way to the lobby to greet the guests, we were each surprised with a bouquet of a dozen red roses from Nate and Walter!

I think we have the sweetest brothers ever!

Here’s a job well done to all the cast and stage/tech/costume/helper crew, and looking forward to four more performances this weekend! Have a fabulous day, etc, etc, etc! :-)

Auditions!

August 27th, 2010

Last year it was Beauty and the Beast, and this year’s musical is the King and I. Auditions were this past Monday and Tuesday, and our whole family attended! Walter, Dad, Angie and I all auditioned.

~Angie, Ashlee and I, all ready with our numbers

~dancer auditions

~See Dad and Walter up there?

~Seth and I read for the roles of Tuptim and Lum Tha

~Walter!

~Angie did absolutely fabulous!

Here’s the big news of the day: we just found out that we all got parts! Here’s the bigger news: both Angie and I got cast as lead roles, Anna and Tuptim! Dad will be captain of the ship, Walter is a priest, Nate will be working backstage, and several of our friends are involved. We’re all super excited!

Poor Nate got tired of all the songs we constantly sang last year from Beauty and the Beast. I hate to break it to you Nate, but it might be even worse this year. :-D

I Have a New Nephew!

May 27th, 2010

David Josiah was born May 25, weighing 8 lbs. 6 oz, 21 inches long. I have yet to see him (I’ve been looking after David’s older siblings), but hopefully I’ll be able to this afternoon! I hear he’s a cutie. :-)

Congratulations to my brother Brian, and his wife Tina, on their fourth child! I’ll post pictures as soon as I can!
