Who Knew Blueberry Picking Could Be So Fun?

July 21st, 2010

It’s about that time of year again…the blueberries are ripe, and we’re a’pickin’!

Man who owns blueberry farm (paraphrase): “I don’t think I’ve met anyone who has as much fun blueberry picking as you guys seem to! That’s really neat. Come again!”

I guess he heard all our talk and laughter (we were probably the loudest people there!).

:-D

We picked four gallons just for our family that day, and we’ve already consumed about two of those gallons. Believe me, they won’t last over a week and a half. Not in this family!

Aren’t blueberries delicious?

The Museum

July 14th, 2010

A science museum, to be exact!  Those are always a lot of fun. :-)

One morning,  a couple weeks ago, we met up with a group of friends to go on a field trip together. It was an all-day outing, including our self guided museum tour, a dinner at Subway, and capping it off at the movie theater watching Toy Story3! (a great movie, by the way! we all loved it, especially since we grew up with the previous two Toy Story movies). We had a great time!

I wish I could be back in that climate controlled, extra cooled museum now; it’s super hot outside! Summer is here!

4th of July Pictures

July 7th, 2010

We began our day by playing acoustic worship music for a church. We met in the national forest near a mountain stream, and even watched a baptism – it was beautiful!

Afterwards, we dropped our instruments off at home, then headed out to a party!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day! God bless America!

Beards

July 5th, 2010

So I’ve been thinking about beards lately (for no particular reason of course ;) ) and I came across this scale of the trustworthiness of beards. I thought it was pretty hilarious.

(You have to zoom in to get a better look)

I think I’ll go with the werewolf, or the Hitler. LOL

Jamestown Reunion!

June 27th, 2010

We didn’t win the gold in the Jamestown 400 Treasure Hunt 3 years ago (has it really been that long?), but we always say that the treasure we found was in friends. We know families from all over the country who we’ve only seen once or twice, or only kept in touch online, but we can still get together for a reunion and have a blast together!

Isn’t the family of God so wonderful? I don’t any of us foresaw all these friendships down the road when we first embarked on the hunt with simple catalog clues. It just blows me away!

Anyway, a few of us got together yesterday in northern Georgia for a reunion. We had families from Tennessee, Ohio, Washington, Georgia and South Carolina – it was awesome! We discovered that many of us liked to dance, and within a few minutes a CD had been put on, the furniture moved, and away we went! We played lots of games, fellowshipped over a delicious meal, laughed, talked and reminisced about our treasure hunting days. :-)

It was a wonderful afternoon and evening. We didn’t get home until 2 AM! We must’ve been having fun.

Here are the pictures we took of our day trip!

The Epitome of Cool

June 16th, 2010

…not really. :-) But Esther and I thought we’d give it a shot anyway! (More pictures of Esther’s visit coming soon!)

Enjoy this beautiful day! At least where I am, it’s not too hot or cold outside – perfect!

The Geeky Glasses Post

May 19th, 2010

Don’t the glasses make Jeremy look like Clark Kent? :-)

They’re not prescription glasses, sunglasses, reading glasses, or really, anything one would normally wear a pair of glasses for, other than minimizing glare from the sun. They are pretty much, all for head turning, eyebrow raising, smile-to-your-face querky style!

Of course, we all had to try them on…

Walter actually doesn’t look too bad in them! I can just imagine him, sitting in front of a computer, typing up programs, or doing whatever it is nerds do.

I tried them on as well…

…ugh! it just didn’t fit well. My face is too small.

Evan’s turn!

I actually think Leah looks cute in them! Not quite her style, but cute nonetheless.

And for Nate? It just doesn’t work, dude, plain and simple. I’m sorry man! I know how much you wanted your own pair.

Angie couldn’t wait to take them off either!

In the end we gave them back to the one who looks the best in them (not to mention the owner!). But it was fun trying out our new look!

Girls’ Night Crafts

May 14th, 2010

Every Thursday night the guys go to a men’s group, studying Norm Wakefield’s Equipping Men series; and every Thursday night they’re gone, us ladies get together at our house and have a “girls’ night in”! We bake goodies, talk, laugh and share stories (a lot of that going on!), sometimes watch a movie, knit or do other crafts. Last night we pooled our scrap booking materials together, and had a stampin’ up party!

I love card making! It’s just a pain to get everything out and clean it up every time a birthday is coming up. Plus, I found that creativity flows best when you’re with friends. :-)

Of course, you can’t have a craft like this going on without a huge mess!

Creating…

Look what we had at the end of our evening!

A closer look.

Those of you who have birthdays, or any special occasions coming up, you should not have read this post. You just might be getting a beautiful handmade card in the mail!

May Barn Dance

May 11th, 2010

Yes, another one. :-) This time, however, we got to dance in the new addition! Our friends did a fabulous job of building a second floor to their barn (which we’ve used for parties and New Year’s festivities). It was gorgeous! They had to raise the floor in a certain area in order to fit large machinery downstairs, so upstairs it made a stage! We even danced on it for a time. The whole place looked lovely with decorations of stringed white lights, cowboy bandannas and rustic antiques to add to the atmosphere

I didn’t snap too many pictures since I was so busy having a good time, but thankfully somebody else did! Here’s a collection of our pictures together.

Silliness

We got a little creative with our dancing as the evening grew later… It sure made for a lot of laughs! Check it out;

Not shown in the pictures was our game of “Duck, duck, goose” on the stage! Yes, we’re all teenagers or older, and we played Duck, Duck Goose. We found out that one of our party had (gasp!) never had the pleasure as a child, so we simply had to play. It’s actually a pretty fun game! You should try it. Really!

Have a lovely day everyone!

A Birthday Post in Pictures

May 9th, 2010

Or rather, birthdays!

Both Evan and Nate’s birthdays were in the early part of April…and we just had their party last week. :-) A little late, but definitely worth the wait! We took the whole day off and carpooled to a beautiful State Park, spending our time doing outdoors activities and having a blast.

Not shown in the pictures was our adventures at the playground there! Yes, we’re all older than 13 and still, we have fun with playgrounds. The swings and old fashioned merry-go-round were the best! Gotta love those. :-)

Happy [really, really belated] birthday boys!

-Kasie
