The Christmas Tacky Party

December 11th, 2009

Continuing with the tradition from last year, we joined our friends in celebrating Christmas in a very silly way last Saturday – everything tacky! All the guests brings a dish for the potluck, a gift for the White Elephant gift exchange, and dress as tacky as humanely possible!

I think the bar of tacky dress has risen since last year – check it out!

Isn’t that awesome? We had a lot of laughs that night!

And speaking of laughs, my hair was a great subject during the party. Nobody thought it looked very tacky (??), so we put it up in a mushroom cloud, “atomic bomb explosion” whatever-you-call-it hairdo, meanwhile afro wigs were being passed around, and then picture posing began!

I hope this brought a smile to your face! :-) We sure had a blast. Have a great weekend!

The One Word Story Game

December 3rd, 2009

Each person is only allowed one word during his/her turn, then it’s up to the next in line to determine where the story goes. End results are always interesting. :-)

So without further ado, here’s our story; a picture of perfect genius from the minds of Angie, Ashlee, Evan and myself.

____________________________________________________________________

Once upon a time there was a little nasty squirrel with a huge head and a snout. “Dixie” picked up a grenade under the treehouse, then poked her eyes out. She decided to jump around the mean groundhog.

Groundhog was very difficult to deal with, so Dixie decided to go to Groundhog’s castle to get back at him. She sat in a warthog holding her sophisticated grenade, named Fireball 3000!  She wanted to destroy him forever! So without warning, she fired a sparky atomic bomb into Groundhog’s window.

“Yes”! Dixie proclaimed, as she waved Fireball in the air.

Then, slowly, she pulled back the pin and blew her hand off. Then, painfully, she said “Hallelujah!” and died.

So, never blow up your body with a grenade.

Civil War Dancing…Blindfolded?

September 10th, 2009

We’re a crazy group of people, but that’s what we did! :-D

In attempt to teach the gentlemen in our Civil War society how to properly “lead” the ladies while dancing, Angie came up with the brilliant idea of blindfolding all the girls! It was very amusing to watch, I’m sure, and forced all the guys to give firm hands/arms to their partners and direct them about.

I was dancing most of the time, but a friend was kind enough to snap these pictures with our camera for us! I thought you might enjoy.

[Note: this is not what we do when dancing at reenactments and balls. this is for practice purposes only!:-D

I certainly hope the blindfolds played their part in perfecting our dancing skills, but personally I was glad when they came off and I could see where I was going! We ended our practice with some of our favorite dances, Gothic Dance, Virginia Reel, and the Snowball Reel.

Have a great day!
