Here are some pictures of our first few days at Providence Glen. Sorry there aren’t any captions – but I’m sure you smart people can figure out what’s going on!

This will be the last normal post here on the blog for a while – today is the day that we move to Providence Glen! At our home there is no internet access yet, so we’ll be “disconnected” indefinitely. Although we hope to get cable internet or satellite internet soon, common sense logistics tells us that that probably won’t happen for a couple of weeks.
But I got to thinking – why can’t we post to the blog from the cell phone? And as it turns out, there is a way to do that! So look for photos and little text blurbs in the future – they come direct from Providence Glen!
Going offline also means zero email – so don’t expect replies anytime soon.
So farewell to you all – see you on the “other side”!
For the Glory of God,
The Willi
“Bye Dad. I’ll really miss you!”
It was Sunday evening, May 25th. Dad was on his way out to travel down to Tennessee and work at his new job (a security guard on a college campus). He had left last week also for the same reason, and the days seemed to drag by without him.
“I won’t see you for a while again.” I squeezed Dad tightly and gave him a kiss.
“It’s only for a few more days,” he reassured me, “less than a week actually. Goodbye everyone! I’ll see you soon!”
“Bye Dad!” we waved to him and watched our mini van disappear down the driveway.
Soon…eh?
“Please Aslan, what do you call soon?”
“I call all times, soon.”
-Lucy to Aslan in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
It seems as if we’ve been saying we’ll move ‘soon’ for the past two months. When folks inquire about our moving date, our reply is usually “we don’t know for certain, but it’ll be very soon.”
Well, now we really are moving soon. Our date is set for May 31st. Dad will be back on that Saturday after a night of working, and from there we’ll pack up the moving truck, bid farewell to our fabulous hosts, and be off! (we’ll sleep in on Sunday morning) That’s “the plan” anyway. Please pray that everything goes well!
So it really is soon! I can’t wait!
-Kasie
As of today, we have electricity and running water at our house! Praise the Lord!
Looks like we’ll do the move next weekend…
Thank you everyone for all your prayers! God is working out our move to TN in amazing ways – but let’s get straight to the news scoops.
Dad got a security job at a local college! What an answer to prayer! He had checked out the college several months ago, and really loved the campus’ environment – but all the security positions were filled. Most people would have simply given up, and gone back to attacking the classifieds, but not Dad. He was confident that this college was where God wanted him, and that God would give it to him when the time was right.
Well, I guess the time is right! Dad never gave up, and patiently called the college a couple times a month to let the Security Director know that he was still interested. Praise the Lord!
He starts work on the 19th. But therein lies the rub, because most likely, we won’t be able to move in by then!
What’s needs to get done before we move? It’s a bit complicated, and I don’t think any of us completely understand it, but it reminds ALL of us like dominoes….
First the electrical needs to be inspected,
Then a new circuit needs to be run out to the well,
Then the well company needs to come and set up the well pump,
Then the power company needs to set up a meter and connect the power,
Only then will the painter come out to paint,
And only then will Oakwood come out to give the final inspection
etc……..
I think you get the idea!
Probably what we’ll end up doing is sending Dad to live by himself in the unfinished house, and then joining him a week (maybe 2 or 3) later. It all depends on how things pan out. If there’s one thing we’ve learned about construction in NY, it’s that there’s always delays. Combine the delays of construction with the laid back demeanor of TN country living….
We appreciate your continued prayers as we prepare for the busyness that’s dead-ahead!
Here are some misc. pictures from the property over the last couple of weeks.
Several days ago we received a call from our salesman (for our manufactured house) “Buddy,” saying that our double-wide was finished and on the lot, ready for us to come see it and give the ‘okay’!
We were pleasantly surprised at how quickly it was finished – only three weeks! But needless to say, we packed our cameras and a few snacks and headed down to Tennessee the next morning to check out our new house!
We were, to say in the least, ‘exceedingly pleased with it on the whole…‘ Actually, we loved it! In the words of our friend Buddy, “it is HUGE!”
2000 sq. ft. sure is a nice amount of space to have on one floor! There’s a half fire place in the sunken den, double decker ovens in the large kitchen, three bathrooms, four bedrooms, and a big attic upstairs.
Other than a few minor details that have yet to be finished, everything was perfect, just the way we had ordered it. And so a few sheets of legal paperwork were read over and passed around, a fat check was signed, and the Willi left Tennessee that day the proud owners of two halves of a house.
When the weather cleared a few days later, all was ready for our house to be trucked in and set on our property. Not wanting to miss out on all the action, we once again packed our bags, snacks, and cameras, and traveled down to Tennessee to watch the excitement!
A few days after that, we journeyed down once more to see our nearly finished house (roof and all!), and spend the afternoon working the land some more.
God bless your day!

Praise God for His guidance and goodness! Our offer was accepted, and we’re now the proud owners of six and a half acres of beautiful cow pasture land…
…And it’s all just for us!
Yes, I said cow pasture; imagine that! Our house will sit on the top of a sloping knoll, and the surrounding land extends to a small creek and a little beyond. Located in the corner of two, very quiet country roads, and on sunny days you see the mountains in the distance. (if you’ve forgotten what the land looks like, go back and take a look at the first fifteen pictures at Trips to Tennessee)
This by no means is the end of our journey – we still have so much ahead of us! (there’s cow patties to shovel, for one thing…:-) The land also has to be graded and perked (putting in septic and water) before we can put our manufactured home on it, and of course the house first has to be built in order to do that.
Lots and lots of things to do, countless decisions to make, and more. We’d appreciate your prayers!
The adventure continues!
-Kasie
The closing date for our land is set for this Friday! It’s so exciting!
Please pray that all goes well, with no hassles or holdups. The Lord is so good!
Thanks,
- The Willi

A good (and reasonable) question: what did happen to the land? I mean, Walter posted about it a couple of weeks ago – there just hasn’t been any information concerning lately. What’s up? Are you still getting the land? What’s going on?
Yep: it’s time for a little update!
I’ve had a post written for a while now (titled It’s Official!) that’s sitting in my draft folder, just waiting until the right moment, to be posted on the day that we can officially and legally call the property ours.
But that day hasn’t come just yet.
Yes, we’re still getting the land, but as with all major purchases like this, it takes time. There are so many little details that one must think through, and it always takes longer than I expect. For instance, we’re currently deciding on how to bring water into the land (well or tap?), and where should we put the septic? There are also more decisions to make concerning our double-wide, manufactured home; we haven’t ordered it yet because we’re still making a few adjustments, punching in numbers, etc…
We’d appreciate your prayers that all these things leading up to the closing (we have a date set for February 29th) will go smoothly and that God would give us wisdom and direction through every step.
So…
Things are still going, we’re still getting the land, and we still love it! I must say, every time we visit Tennessee and see the property, it grows on me more and more. I can imagine our family living there, meeting our neighbours, working on the land, and hosting you – our dear friends – when you come and see us!
(yes, I’m counting on that!)
God bless y’all!
-Kasie
And a deal is reached!

Stay tuned for future developments!
