Organizing Frenzy!

May 10th, 2011

Don’t you love it when messes like this…

…turn into this?

It all started when Nate asked me to organize a bookshelf he finished building, since he’d made a bit of a mess moving books and games out of the way.  While I was at it and had some extra space, other bookshelves needed re-organizing too…and the hall closet…and a few other miscellaneous things. Why not? 5 hours later, I was victorious! I may have gotten a little carried away, but I’m so happy to have tidy bookshelves and a hall closet that doesn’t explode every time it’s opened. :-)

I mean, look at the beautifully stacked fabric!

I thought my design for keeping my knitting needles in place was pretty ingenious…

Here’s the finished bookshelf, all neat and clean!

I even had enough room to devote an entire shelf to all my horse books!

Big organizing projects take so much energy, and by the end of the day, I was ready to collapse, but it felt wonderful to have it all finished at last!

Now if I could just turn that same attention to my bedroom… that’ll be next month’s project.

:-D

Things I Miss…

February 26th, 2011

…little feet…

…little girl smiles…

Matching skirts…

…kids who think they’re so cool… :-)

…piling into the 15 passenger van to go dancing together (and other various activities we did)…

…and all the pitter patter, noise, laughter and chatter of my nieces and nephews when they were here.

Come back soon, you guys!

Wintry Days

January 12th, 2011

It’s cold here in our little corner of TN! We’ve been getting snow almost everyday in the past week, and lots of it!

Too bad we don’t have sleds – we should be able to get some good runs down our hill!

Snow creations;

~Pennies for eyes, airsoft pellets for a smile, and a newsboy cap – what a fashionable snowman, Nate!

Drive safe everyone, and stay warm!

Introducing the Amazing – Card Throwers?

December 16th, 2010

Yes, we have embraced a new sport! It’s all the rage in homeschooling families across the country, using ordinary materials every household has: a simple deck of playing cards.

Here’s how to recreate the awesomeness of card throwing, right in your own home!

Step #1: Acquire a handful of playing cards – preferably a full deck – and ready them in your hands.

Step #2: Pose, and look cool. This is a tough sport, not one to be taken lightly, so put on your serious “I’m-going-to-do-something-incredible-so-watch-out!” face, and ready yourself for action!

Example #1 of how to achieve this daring and dangerous look:

~as demonstrated by David B., Master Card Thrower.

Example #2, as demonstrated by Mr. Nate W., also a master in card throwing.

Step #3: Ready your camera and film crew, and prepare to get some epic shots of your awesomeness: the best is yet to come!

Step #3: You are now ready to begin. It’s time to throw cards! Practice your technique until you can aim and hit on target. The ultimate goal? To snuff out a candle using your killer card skills. Impossible? Think again. The Master Card Throwers have already achieved this and more!

Wow. How do they pull off these stunts with such finesse?

You’ve heard from the experts. You’ve read the instructions. Now go throw some cards!

-Kasie.

By the way, card throwing really is a sport, and both Nate and David were able to snuff out a candle!

The Last Week in Pictures

September 1st, 2010

As many of you know. last week was crazy for us! There’s just a lot going on, and I decided to catch up with a picture post…condensed, of course (unless you die-hards are ready for a batch of 1000+ pictures!)  :-)

First off, we got to see friends from the Jamestown Reunion. It was awesome hanging out with you guys! Come see us soon!

I was in my first horse show, and won 2nd and 4th place in the classes I entered!

~me and “Logan”, my friends’ horse.

A concert and baseball game;

Last week was also Todd’s funeral. He’d requested a “celebration service”, so that’s what we did! We praised God for the life that he had, shared fond memories, cried on each other’s shoulders, and rejoiced in the fact that Todd was now in Heaven.  We played special music, and a banquet held in his honor. It was a hard day for all of us, but also really, really good. God blessed our time together!

Last Saturday, we had another Civil War ball!

Don’t worry, there were plenty of guys there! Actually this whole affair was put on particularly for a boyscout troop, and 1860′s dancing was apart of their education on Civil War history. They loved it!

That’s all for now, folks. Have a fabulous week!

Did You Know…

July 27th, 2010

…that a cake could be “tatooed”?

Neither did I. But I know now! :-)

Whatever you call it, the cake looks gorgeous!
