I decided to fool around with my hair a little bit. And this is what I came up with…….

For some reason I found those butterfly sun glasses in my room

I kept trying to get my hair like this, but I couldn’t quite get it :(

And finally the goal! - a quality professional headshot

There were so many good pix to choose from, but this fit the criteria of my goal - a head shot. Enjoy the "bloopers" of the photo shoot below :-D

This series of pictures reminded me of the roll of pictures you get in one those photo booths at the mall! None of them turn out “successful”, per say, but somehow you like them anyway. :-)

Merry Christmas Eve Eve! :-D

Sweet Baby James

October 18th, 2009

This is aunt is really missing her favorite nephew! (Oops… is that legal? :-D )sweetbabyjames1

Awww!!!

sweetbabyjames2

I wish we had a picture of his adorable ear-to-ear grin! James is such a special little man, and so easy to please. Aunt Angie misses him very much and is looking forward to seeing him again sometime :-) .

Outer Banks #6: Canoe Views

October 10th, 2009

Since the ocean looked a little rough for canoing (but apparently not for some people!) we turned to a different water trip more suited to our canoes, Milltail Creek into Alligator River. It was a gorgeous day, and the water was amazing! I described it to Walter as “clear, black tea”, and he agreed. It made for beautiful reflections!

See what I mean?

“Only one way to go now – forward.”

We have reached the Alligator River!

We stayed only for a little while, then turned around to head back.

Outer Banks #5: Kitty Hawk

October 8th, 2009

One of the activities we did during our family reunion in the Outer Banks was to go visit the sight of America’s first flight, Kitty Hawk! Actually when I said “we”, it was really only half true, since only Mom, Dad and Walter went. I was coming down with a fever,  and Nate and Angie wanted to hang out with everybody else at the beach house. So if you’re wondering why we’re not in the pictures, that’s why! If I’m ever near Kitty Hawk again and I’m not sick, I’d love to go visit it too someday. I do love history!

Looks like Mom, Dad and Walter had fun though. You know the routine – here are the pictures!

Imagine what life would be like now without airplanes! Hats off to you, Wilbur and Orville!

Outer Banks #4: T-Shirts and Family Portraits

October 1st, 2009

It was Joy’s Sharon’s idea to surprise Mom with family reunion t-shirts. Over the past months we’d emailed each other sizes, designs, and pictures. What she came up with was perfect, and Mom came into the living room one evening to find us all passing out and wearing our appointed t-shirts! Surprise complete!

Of course, we wanted a family portrait, so we headed out to the beach one morning for the photo shoot. (these pictures are “pre-photoshoot”. for the real family portraits, scroll down).

And now for the official family portraits…

familyportrait

You wouldn’t believe how long it took to get everybody looking and smiling at once (especially with a timer camera and no photographer), but this was my favorite one. Don’t we look great? :-)

sillyportrait

We always do a silly picture too. It’s tradition! This one is my favorite also.

Then we did separate family portraits…

I love Abby’s expression in that one!

And our famlily portrait. I can see this on a Christmas card…

Outer Banks #2: Beach, Beach!

September 29th, 2009

Inside joke with my post title. Kerrianne was the first who said it (“I want to go to the beach – beach, beach!”), Kenny exaggerated it, he and Nate put it to practice and the rest of us followed! For the rest of the week, anytime anyone uttered the word “beach” we’d all call out “beach, beach!” :-) It’s just one of those interesting, little sidenotes that added fun to our family reunion.

So this post is mostly all pictures (of course!) of our time at the beach. We were there nearly everyday! Who wouldn’t, when it’s only a short walk away in your backyard? We had morning jogs and evening walks on the beach, football games, boche games, and kite flying. But most of all, swimming and playing in the waves! I was so proud of myself when I finally got the hang of boggy boarding. I began to beat everyone back to shore in our little “races” we had! (in our family, we can make anything competive)

Kenny and Walter’s Canoe Adventure

We brought our canoes with us on the trip, just in case we’d want to go canoing out on the ocean or Sound. Honestly though, after seeing the hugeness of those waves, I think most of us chickened out! Walter however, still wanted to give it a go just for the heck of it, and Kenny accompanied him, a guy who’s always game for anything a bit crazy. :-)

Once out on the water, Kenny, Walter and the canoe looked so tiny compared to those huge waves! It was very amusing for us onlookers to watch – they capsized twice! It was hilarious.

It’s so weird, though, to come from the beach, a seemingly endless summerland, to Providence Glen, where we’re experiencing definite Fall weather! It was rather a shock at first, but now that I’ve had a bit of time to adjust, I’m loving it! Autumn is, after all, my favorite season.

Have a great day!

Outer Banks #1: Arrival

September 28th, 2009

I had to wake up at 5 AM in order for us to leave on time. 5 AM! That’s okay. We sleep in the car. :-) And with our four drivers, I think everyone had a chance to catch up on those couple hours of lost sleep.

It was pretty neat when four vehicles are driving from directions towards the same place! Sharon and John, us, and Joy and Kenny all arrived within about 10 minutes of each other. That was pretty cool! After hugs and kisses all around we ran straight for the beach!

It’s been ages since I’ve been to any beach, and I’d never been to the Outer Banks before now. Awesome waves, there! We didn’t do too much swimming on that first day, but mostly chatted, unpacked our things and ate supper. We loved our beach house!

Check back over the week for more pictures!

Weekend Festivities

September 2nd, 2009

Sunday was a busy day! We had church in the morning (early morning, since we were doing worship this week), and after dropping our instruments off at home, went on to truck driving school, a concert and baseball game!

A month or so ago, one of the gentlemen we know from church bought a truck. Not just any truck, but a big, tough, army truck! (known as a “deuce and a half”) He wanted all the men in our congregation to know how to drive it, so if ever we had a need to move something huge, a driver would be available. The boys (Walter and Nate) learned weeks ago when Mr. Ron had guys from the church over, but he decided to have another “truck driving school”. This time, everybody gets to try driving the big truck!

Did somebody say “everybody”? Oh yeah, you can bet I drove it, and yes, it was sweet! The truck is automatic and has powered steering, but it’s still hard to turn that wheel where you want it! The parking break was also extremely stiff – had to use some elbow grease there. :-)

If you ever go to a baseball game, be sure you bring lots of good friends with you – it triples the fun you have!

Directly after truck driving school we drove to the baseball stadium, just in time to enjoy our friends’ concert before the game started. It was a wonderful afternoon! We listened to great music, watched the game every once in a while :-) , and just had a fabulous time with our friends.
