Introducing the Amazing – Card Throwers?

December 16th, 2010

Yes, we have embraced a new sport! It’s all the rage in homeschooling families across the country, using ordinary materials every household has: a simple deck of playing cards.

Here’s how to recreate the awesomeness of card throwing, right in your own home!

Step #1: Acquire a handful of playing cards – preferably a full deck – and ready them in your hands.

Step #2: Pose, and look cool. This is a tough sport, not one to be taken lightly, so put on your serious “I’m-going-to-do-something-incredible-so-watch-out!” face, and ready yourself for action!

Example #1 of how to achieve this daring and dangerous look:

~as demonstrated by David B., Master Card Thrower.

Example #2, as demonstrated by Mr. Nate W., also a master in card throwing.

Step #3: Ready your camera and film crew, and prepare to get some epic shots of your awesomeness: the best is yet to come!

Step #3: You are now ready to begin. It’s time to throw cards! Practice your technique until you can aim and hit on target. The ultimate goal? To snuff out a candle using your killer card skills. Impossible? Think again. The Master Card Throwers have already achieved this and more!

Wow. How do they pull off these stunts with such finesse?

You’ve heard from the experts. You’ve read the instructions. Now go throw some cards!

-Kasie.

By the way, card throwing really is a sport, and both Nate and David were able to snuff out a candle!

Randomness

September 17th, 2010

Ok, so I know y’all have seen enough pictures of me wearing different sunglasses, but I thought these ones looks pretty good.

The best part is if you look closely you can see the reflection of the camera in my hand.

What do ya think?

My Tribute to Todd

August 24th, 2010

Thanks for your godly example Todd. This video is the summation of my thoughts this week. – Walter

We’ll Miss You, Todd

August 23rd, 2010

After almost two years battling cancer, our dear friend Todd, is finally without pain. He went home to be with our Savior!

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

~Revelation 21:4

Todd was a mighty man of God! His passion and excitement for the Lord and His Word inspired so many. He was a wonderful friend and brother in Christ, and taught us all so many things.
Todd, you’ve touched more lives than you know! I know you’re rejoicing in Heaven, but we’ll miss you.

The Workshop (part 2)

July 9th, 2010

I now have a floor for my workshop! I’m so excited! Of course we picked like the two hottest days of the year to work on it. It was definitely well over 100. Anyway…I’m not much of a writer, so I’ll let the pictures do all of the talking for me.

-The finished product

Many thanks to John and David for all of their help. (and being patient with us) lol

Poor Girl!

She made the mistake of sitting right between these crazy guys…

You have my sympathy, Ashlee… :-P

The Workshop (part 1)

July 1st, 2010

We are in the process of building me a workshop. This is something that I have always wanted since I’ve been into woodworking. We finally got started yesterday by getting the ground level, and digging a trench around the perimeter. Of course when I say digging I mean have a guy with a backhoe come and watch as he digs. :)

It will be 16 x 24

I didn’t even think about getting pictures while he was digging.  Sorry!

For those of you who know me well you know that I like to doodle, so I thought that it would be cool to doodle on the ground. (never done that before)

I can’t wait until its done!

Last Week in Pictures

June 9th, 2010

Holding David as much as possible; who wouldn’t? :-)

Just chilling out…

…and hanging out at my sister’s house with our nieces and nephews…

…playing card games with huge cards…

…and visiting a bit with friends!

And now, home sweet home! Also we’ve s stolen away our friend Esther to spend a couple of weeks with us, so I’m sure there will be more pictures to post soon. :-)

-Kasie

P.S. Did you know that yesterday (June 8th) was “Best Friends Day”? Just thought I’d mention that…

Spring Vacation #6: The Last Few Days

April 12th, 2010

I’ve finally reached the last installment of our Spring Vacation series! though it is a little late. I think though, once you’ve heard about the busy weekend we’ve had, you’ll understand why I’m just now getting around to writing this post. :-)

So for the last few days of our family vacation, we got to see two more families, friends we met from the Jamestown 400. After we found out that the Discher family lived only a little while away from the Niednagels, we planned to spend a day together!

Throwing Rocks in the Ozarks from Walter on Vimeo.

We had such a good time! Thank you, Discher family, for having us!

Our next stop was over 8 hours away in Indiana! It was my first time every being in that state…or in Missouri, and Illinois, or any other state we drove through during our vacation. :-)

Remember Andrew? (we saw him last year in North Carolina) It’s his family we stayed with. We only had one day to visit with our friends, but we managed to fit a lot in!

We had a great time with you guys! Thanks for your hospitality!

Oh! and look what picture I found the other day…

Three years ago…

…two weeks ago.

Good times.

And thus ends the chronicles of our family vacation (except for the fact that we arrived safe at home on a Friday at 2 in the morning). Thanks for stopping by y’all!

Spring Vacation #5: At the Niednagels’

April 9th, 2010

And good luck pronouncing their name! :-)

No, actually it’s “need-gnaw-gull”, but that doesn’t really matter. The point is, we got to visit them!

Jordan, Melissa, and their little boy William, live just a few hours away from the Nisbetts, out in the Ozark country. Long time readers may remember when we first visited Melissa’s family, when she was still a Thomas :-) . That was over two years ago, so it was good catching up! It was great getting to know Jordan and the rest of the Niednagel clan (Jordan’s brother and parents practically live next door). We went for a walk, the guys went four-wheeling, we played games, ate delicious meals (thank-you Melissa!), laughed and talked. It was a great time!

For additional pictures go to Jordan’s blog and scroll down.

Thank you so much, Niednagels, for having us! We had a blast.
