I didn’t believe my friend (and fellow horse lover and riding companion) when she told me I’d be riding “Sully” by myself along the roads by the end of summer, yet I am! I certainly wouldn’t believe her if she told me I’d also be taking Sully to his first horse show and placing in the classes, but that’s exactly what happened!

~Sully and me. Don’t we look so good together?
Horse shows are much more fun when you can enjoy them with friends, and none of my adventures last week would’ve been possible without the help of our friends, the Browns! It was Sydney’s idea to bring Sully along with her horse “Blackie” to the last show of the season, since it was a safe and easy going environment for newcomers and green horses. It was perfect! A few days and a vet call later (a standard procedure to give the ‘okay’ to Sully’s health), and we were on our way!
I didn’t know what to expect from Sully. I didn’t even know if he’d ever been brought to a horse show before (read the story of how I got my horses here), but I’m proud of him! For the most part he was a good boy, and we came away with three ribbons out of the four classes we entered in! (2 third place, and one second!) It was a great experience for us.
I still consider Sully somewhat green, but he’s come such a long way! As I said before, I’m very proud of him, and now I know certain aspects of his training that we need to work on.
I can never stay mad at him long, that’s for sure. He’s just too cute!
Thank you so much, Sydney and Mrs. Brown for picking us up and for a fantastic fun time!
Now to see what I can do with Violet! That’s gonna be interesting…
~Kasie
P.S. For those of you who don’t know, Violet’s my other horse; a rescued thoroughbred mare, very neurotic, very high strung and high tempered, and very herd bound to Sully. Training her is going to be a definite challenge!
