Overdue Post #1

June 22nd, 2010

Otherwise titled, Picture Post Catchup!

A lot of fun happenings going on at Providence Glen. Our visit with Esther was great, and yes, we do have a lot of pictures to show for it! Here’s the first batch for you;

Airsoft Time!

Don’t you just love it when you’re playing airsoft near a country road, all decked out in camo, packing an automatic gun and other weapons, and then a car drives by…very slowly. They turn their heads, and then the moment of truth comes, when your spectators either smile and laugh, or give you one of those “I-think-you’re-crazy” stares. Not that any of this happened to me or anything! I just thought I’d mentioned it. :-D

The Last Few (for today, anyway. I have another similar post coming)

Happy Summer! (a day late, I know…) :-)

The Epitome of Cool

June 16th, 2010

…not really. :-) But Esther and I thought we’d give it a shot anyway! (More pictures of Esther’s visit coming soon!)

Enjoy this beautiful day! At least where I am, it’s not too hot or cold outside – perfect!

Weekend Snapshots

May 1st, 2010

(from last weekend. Oops! I’m so behind)

Somebody turned the big “1″…

Somebody turned 13 – two special numbers this year!

We saw Emily play the part of Jane Bennett in a Pride and Prejudice musical, and visited with her family afterwards (Angie got into the spirit of things and dressed up for the performance).

We visited with a dear family we hadn’t seen in a long time…

…and got a little silly…

I think Josh took a cue from our examples;

:-D Have a happy weekend!

Surprise!!

April 15th, 2010

The food and table were set…

…the birthday presents and decorations in place…

… lookouts were posted…

…everything came down to this moment. All the planning and preparation was completely worth it for the look on Angie’s face when we yelled “SURPRISE!!!”

Hugs all around!

Surprise birthday parties are so much fun when they’re actually successful! Angie practically jumped out of her skin! Maybe that’s why we were laughing so hard. :-D

~Friends~

What a fun day! Thanks to all our friends who helped so much and made Angie’s birthday so special. We love you Ang!

Spring Vacation #6: The Last Few Days

April 12th, 2010

I’ve finally reached the last installment of our Spring Vacation series! though it is a little late. I think though, once you’ve heard about the busy weekend we’ve had, you’ll understand why I’m just now getting around to writing this post. :-)

So for the last few days of our family vacation, we got to see two more families, friends we met from the Jamestown 400. After we found out that the Discher family lived only a little while away from the Niednagels, we planned to spend a day together!

We had such a good time! Thank you, Discher family, for having us!

Our next stop was over 8 hours away in Indiana! It was my first time every being in that state…or in Missouri, and Illinois, or any other state we drove through during our vacation. :-)

Remember Andrew? (we saw him last year in North Carolina) It’s his family we stayed with. We only had one day to visit with our friends, but we managed to fit a lot in!

We had a great time with you guys! Thanks for your hospitality!

Oh! and look what picture I found the other day…

Three years ago…

…two weeks ago.

Good times.

And thus ends the chronicles of our family vacation (except for the fact that we arrived safe at home on a Friday at 2 in the morning). Thanks for stopping by y’all!

Spring Vacation #4: Fun With the Nisbetts

April 7th, 2010

We stayed with the Nisbett family four days, and though we couldn’t have picked a busier time of year for our visit (especially with the play going on), we enjoyed good fellowship with one another! We talked, played games, laughed, and played music together. It was wonderful!

Nisbetts, we had a great time getting to know you guys! Thank you so much for all your hospitality! Scroll down and see yourselves…

Video time! Here we have Joel (on the piano), Josiah and Walter jamming around a bit: (apologies if these videos don’t show up properly; I’m having a bit of trouble getting it to work)

The rest of us end up in the music room too! With almost everybody playing a different instrument than they’re used to, our “music” made for quite the interesting sound. Great fun! :-D

Late at night stuff…scratch that! early morning stuff! I believe we stayed up past 2 AM.

Spring Vacation #3: Pride and Prejudice Media

April 5th, 2010

Continuing with our little chronicle…

We timed our visit with the Nisbett family so we could also see their production of Pride and Prejudice. Their theater group, Fine Linen Drama, puts on a couple of plays every year – we especially wanted to see their performance of The Pirates of Penzance last year! I was so glad we at last got to see one of their fabulous plays!

What I most love about the story of Pride and Prejudice is all the whimsical characters Jane Austin created. From Mr. Collins to Mr. Darcy, from Lady Catherin DeBourgh to Mr. Bennett, and of course not forgetting our heroines. In this production each role was played wonderfully! We all loved it, and ended up seeing it a second time. :-)

~Angie gets into the spirit of things by dressing appropriately! (Walter and I did also)

Of course, I took lots and lots of pictures, but here I’ll only show some of the best shots. I’m also doing something a little different and posting a couple of videos! Nothing is as good as actually being there, but the videos will give you a taste of what went on. So, enjoy all the media!

Spring Vacation #2: St. Louis

April 3rd, 2010

After visiting with Annie and Chloe we spent a quick night at our hotel in Franklin (I say “quick”, because I went to bed around 2 and woke up at 6 or 7!), and headed out the next morning for Missouri, where we’d be spending the majority of our vacation. Our first stop was at the Nisbetts’, a family we know from the Jamestown 400 Treasure Hunt and have been wanting to visit for a long time. We were finally able to see each other last week when we spent a few days with them in fellowship and fun, and even saw their Pride and Prejudice play!

But more on that later.

For now, enjoy the pictures we took of our day spent touring the city of St. Louis! We all wanted to go into the famous arch, but alas! we were too late, and they were already sold out. Ah well. Maybe next time.

At any rate, we had a fantastic time walking about the city, seeing the Mississippi River and other sights and sounds of St. Louis. Check out the pictures!

Next up, Pride and Prejudice pictures!

Good Times ‘n Stuff

March 6th, 2010

I haven’t done a real “pictures post” in a while, so I thought now would be a fine time to chronicle a day we spent with our friends last Thursday.

It was suppose to be a surprise get together for the boys (not my boys – their boys), but suspicions were aroused throughout the week, and our friends knew something was up. They found out they were right when we came knocking on their door that afternoon – ah well! The surprise wasn’t a great one, but our time together was. We took advantage of the beautiful weather and hiked outside, played some games inside, and stayed late enough into the night (or shall I say, “morning”) to wish our young friend a happy birthday.

Here are the pictures I took. Enjoy!

In closing, I thought you might be amused by this picture of Nate, taken while playing a game of cards:

He seems to have one of my knitting needles stuck in his hair! Poor fellow. :-)

Have a great day! I hope you’re experiencing sunny weather like we are!

At the Movies

January 28th, 2010

~Ashlee, Josiah, Elijah and I at the movies

~and…everybody else! Wow we took up a lot of space!

We all followed Jeremy’s excellent example in the previous picture, and decided to show our enthusiasm. :-) It’s nice to practically take up one whole theater by ourselves! An advantage to matinĂ©es.

Have a great day!
