Spring Getaway

June 2nd, 2011

Where to, you ask?

To see the new baby, of course! And while we were there, we thought we might as well say hi to Jonathan’s parents and siblings… :)

I think we chose one the hottest days of the year to go to Virginia and see family, but other than the heat and heavy traffic on the way up, our trip was perfect! Mommy and baby are doing very well – baby is never without a pair of loving arms to hold him. It would be the same for you too if you were the youngest of 9 children and had several adoring aunts, uncles, grandparents and friends waiting their turn! Trust me.

As always, pictures can tell a story better than I can, so browse through them and enjoy!

Family is one of the greatest gifts God gives us, and I’m so thankful for mine. Have a blessed day!

Game Day Silliness

November 30th, 2010

As always, we keep up with our family tradition known as “Game Day”! Here, a group of us pose for the camera:

Just havin’ fun! :-)

…and being silly. Apparently.

I hope everyone had a a lovely Thanksgiving (and Game Day, if you also celebrate :-) )!

The Madness of Ultimate Spoons

September 24th, 2010

“What exactly is Ultimate Spoons”, you ask? Well, to give you a mental image, it looks something like this;

The card game aspect takes place in one room, while the spoons are scattered in another. You might get a scene like this;

(notice Angie’s victory in the background at finding the first spoon!)

You should try it! It really is, quite amusing. :-)

Birthday on the Lake

August 11th, 2010

My 18th birthday was about two weeks ago, but I celebrated with real a party yesterday, doing my favorite things and being with family and friends – we went to the lake!

Early in the morning my wonderful Dad and brothers packed up our mini van “Homer” with our canoes, paddles and lifevests, while Mom, Angie and I put together picnic baskets, desserts and snacks. Once everything was ready, we carpooled with our friends and headed out to one of our favorite lakes. The rain had stopped and the sun came out just in time as we pulled into our destination. We had beautiful weather!

After spending most of the day on the lake, we went to the movies together and watched Dispicable Me. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day.

Thank you so much, to all my friends who came and made this day such a blast! I hope you had fun; I sure did!

Sunday Fellowship!

August 7th, 2010

Every summer our church usually puts together a schedule we like to call “Sunday Summer Fellowship”; simply pick a Sunday afternoon, plan an activity, and do it! This past weekend we hosted a picnic at one of our favorite spots by the river, and spent several hours swimming, wading, splashing, picnicking, and fellowshipping. It’s just wonderful to be with our brothers and sisters in Christ!

I didn’t take the camera with me when I was in the river (for what I hope are obvious reasons :-) ), but I did steal some photos from friends, as usually, so take a look!

My favorite part of the day? Riding down a miniature waterfall. That was awesome!

Who Knew Blueberry Picking Could Be So Fun?

July 21st, 2010

It’s about that time of year again…the blueberries are ripe, and we’re a’pickin’!

Man who owns blueberry farm (paraphrase): “I don’t think I’ve met anyone who has as much fun blueberry picking as you guys seem to! That’s really neat. Come again!”

I guess he heard all our talk and laughter (we were probably the loudest people there!).

:-D

We picked four gallons just for our family that day, and we’ve already consumed about two of those gallons. Believe me, they won’t last over a week and a half. Not in this family!

Aren’t blueberries delicious?

The Museum

July 14th, 2010

A science museum, to be exact!  Those are always a lot of fun. :-)

One morning,  a couple weeks ago, we met up with a group of friends to go on a field trip together. It was an all-day outing, including our self guided museum tour, a dinner at Subway, and capping it off at the movie theater watching Toy Story3! (a great movie, by the way! we all loved it, especially since we grew up with the previous two Toy Story movies). We had a great time!

I wish I could be back in that climate controlled, extra cooled museum now; it’s super hot outside! Summer is here!

Girls’ Night – Book Study

July 1st, 2010

We make goodies and desserts, such as Angie’s cherry scones…

…add some fresh wild flowers (sweet peas) to the decor…

…and begin our study of Debi Pearl’s Preparing to be a Help Meet (read about it here). I’m really enjoying this book! There’s a lot of wisdom in what Mrs. Pearl writes.

Afterwards we have fun and enjoy each other’s company!

~Our group, minus a few.

It’s so wonderful to have wholesome discussion and fellowship with our sisters in Christ!

Happy July! Can you believe it’s here already? Insane!

Jamestown Reunion!

June 27th, 2010

We didn’t win the gold in the Jamestown 400 Treasure Hunt 3 years ago (has it really been that long?), but we always say that the treasure we found was in friends. We know families from all over the country who we’ve only seen once or twice, or only kept in touch online, but we can still get together for a reunion and have a blast together!

Isn’t the family of God so wonderful? I don’t any of us foresaw all these friendships down the road when we first embarked on the hunt with simple catalog clues. It just blows me away!

Anyway, a few of us got together yesterday in northern Georgia for a reunion. We had families from Tennessee, Ohio, Washington, Georgia and South Carolina – it was awesome! We discovered that many of us liked to dance, and within a few minutes a CD had been put on, the furniture moved, and away we went! We played lots of games, fellowshipped over a delicious meal, laughed, talked and reminisced about our treasure hunting days. :-)

It was a wonderful afternoon and evening. We didn’t get home until 2 AM! We must’ve been having fun.

Here are the pictures we took of our day trip!

Overdue Post #2

June 23rd, 2010

Or simply summed up as “Photoshoot, Fun, and Farewell”!

Since Esther and I had bought matching shirts at Wal-Mart, we knew that sometime during her stay we simply had to do a photoshoot! It wasn’t until the last day she was with us that we finally got around to it. We had a lot of laughs, as well as a few surprises, courtesy of a certain brother of mine… This is what we came up with;

As it turns out, the train station, and the train which would bear Esther back home, wasn’t too far from my brother’s house, so we drove up for the night and visited for a short time.

Then, it was time to say goodbye.

Farewell, Esther! I hope you had a good time, and I’m so glad you came!
