Overdue Post #2

June 23rd, 2010

Or simply summed up as “Photoshoot, Fun, and Farewell”!

Since Esther and I had bought matching shirts at Wal-Mart, we knew that sometime during her stay we simply had to do a photoshoot! It wasn’t until the last day she was with us that we finally got around to it. We had a lot of laughs, as well as a few surprises, courtesy of a certain brother of mine… This is what we came up with;

As it turns out, the train station, and the train which would bear Esther back home, wasn’t too far from my brother’s house, so we drove up for the night and visited for a short time.

Then, it was time to say goodbye.

Farewell, Esther! I hope you had a good time, and I’m so glad you came!

Otherwise titled, Picture Post Catchup!

A lot of fun happenings going on at Providence Glen. Our visit with Esther was great, and yes, we do have a lot of pictures to show for it! Here’s the first batch for you;

Airsoft Time!

Don’t you just love it when you’re playing airsoft near a country road, all decked out in camo, packing an automatic gun and other weapons, and then a car drives by…very slowly. They turn their heads, and then the moment of truth comes, when your spectators either smile and laugh, or give you one of those “I-think-you’re-crazy” stares. Not that any of this happened to me or anything! I just thought I’d mentioned it. :-D

The Last Few (for today, anyway. I have another similar post coming)

Happy Summer! (a day late, I know…) :-)

The Epitome of Cool

June 16th, 2010

…not really. :-) But Esther and I thought we’d give it a shot anyway! (More pictures of Esther’s visit coming soon!)

Enjoy this beautiful day! At least where I am, it’s not too hot or cold outside – perfect!

“I’m Kasie!” #2

June 7th, 2010

Remember our niece Abby, playing ‘Kasie’ last year? Well, here’s installment two of that series!

She loved taking my “flip-floppers” and walking about the house in them.

~trying on my huge sunglasses.

This next picture has nothing to do with the title, but I thought it was cute. Her first self portrait! (with a little help…)

:-D Have a blessed day!

Caleb and Me

And of course, a silly picture! Every family has a crazy uncle, but do they have a crazy Aunt? I’d better watch out. :-)

Little David

May 27th, 2010

Here are the promised pictures of David Josiah! My sister-in-law was discharged from the hospital and able to come home today, so we all got to meet little David. Isn’t he precious?

We’ve been trying to keep him awake during the day as much as possible. Here he had his eyes wide open for a long time!

Such a cutey! Children are a blessing from the Lord.

Aunty Kasie gets to hold David her new nephew

Uncle Nate’s turn

Big brother Chris gets a turn too!

Did you know that David is Mom’s 21st grandchild? I love our big family!

My Graduation

May 17th, 2010

Yes, I made it! And I’m now a homeschool highschool graduate, diploma and all. Huzzah!

We had a small ceremony with our local homeschool group last Friday, when I graduated with two other seniors. I was fun wearing the traditional cap and gown, but honestly I don’t know how in heaven’s name a mortarboard can look good on anyone! It’s a fashion our society can do without. How ’bout newsboy caps for the next generation? Who’s with me? :-P

We had a whole discussion/debate  on which direction to flip the tassel; left to right, or right to left? I asked several people their opinion and was given several different answers each time; in the end, we voted left to right. Seems logical, doesn’t it? Which way did you flip your tassel when you graduated? I’d love to know!

After some refreshments at the church, we invited several of our friends to our house for a graduation party. Good thing it was a Friday night – we ended up laughing, talking and playing hilarious games until after 12! Good times!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out and made this day so special to me. You guys are the best, and I’m so blessed to know you all.

The adventure continues!

May Barn Dance

May 11th, 2010

Yes, another one. :-) This time, however, we got to dance in the new addition! Our friends did a fabulous job of building a second floor to their barn (which we’ve used for parties and New Year’s festivities). It was gorgeous! They had to raise the floor in a certain area in order to fit large machinery downstairs, so upstairs it made a stage! We even danced on it for a time. The whole place looked lovely with decorations of stringed white lights, cowboy bandannas and rustic antiques to add to the atmosphere

I didn’t snap too many pictures since I was so busy having a good time, but thankfully somebody else did! Here’s a collection of our pictures together.

Silliness

We got a little creative with our dancing as the evening grew later… It sure made for a lot of laughs! Check it out;

Not shown in the pictures was our game of “Duck, duck, goose” on the stage! Yes, we’re all teenagers or older, and we played Duck, Duck Goose. We found out that one of our party had (gasp!) never had the pleasure as a child, so we simply had to play. It’s actually a pretty fun game! You should try it. Really!

Have a lovely day everyone!

A Birthday Post in Pictures

May 9th, 2010

Or rather, birthdays!

Both Evan and Nate’s birthdays were in the early part of April…and we just had their party last week. :-) A little late, but definitely worth the wait! We took the whole day off and carpooled to a beautiful State Park, spending our time doing outdoors activities and having a blast.

Not shown in the pictures was our adventures at the playground there! Yes, we’re all older than 13 and still, we have fun with playgrounds. The swings and old fashioned merry-go-round were the best! Gotta love those. :-)

Happy [really, really belated] birthday boys!

A Simple Equation

May 3rd, 2010

Pretty pink blossoms on a tree,

+ photogenic nieces

(not to mention perfect overcast lighting)

+ crazy Aunt Kasie behind the camera

= photo time!

I experimented with a bit of portrait shooting with my brother’s camera

Don’t you just love taking pictures of willing models? :-D

And then I thought it was my turn…

Everyone knows by now it’s tradition to get a couple of self portraits for the day!

Signing off,

~Kasie
